You claim to be an environmentalist?

$100 Billion
"To help developing countries switch from fossil fuels to greener sources of energy and adapt to the effects of climate change, the developed world will provide $100 billion a year," NPR's Christopher Joyce reports. But that amount is identified as a "floor," not a ceiling. "Developed countries won inclusion of language that would up the ante in subsequent years," he explains, "so that financial aid will keep ramping up over time."

It is theoretically possible that someone in the world, someway, somehow, there is a person who pretends to be an environmentalist for financial interest. But, as an environmentalist myself I have never met them, nor ever heard of them. Nor can I easily imagine how that would even work - the incentives are all wrong to be in it for the money, because there isn't money in itRemember that you are dust and to dust you shall return.

It isn't part of the 2015 Paris Agreement. The US withdrawing from the Paris Agreement does not itself affect the Green Climate Fund, because the two are not directly connected. But Trump did also announce that the US would cease making any contributions to the Green Climate Fund in addition to pulling out of the Paris Agreement. Obama apparently contributed $1B to it in his last year in office.
The green energy industry is worth billions.
It's literally insane to think the average person who is concerned about the environment is only concerned about the environment for the money they think they can get out of pretending to have such a concern."I hate him passionately", he's "a demonic force" - Tucker Carlson, in private, on Donald Trump

Developed country Parties shall provide financial resources to assist developing country Parties with respect to both mitigation and adaptation in continuation of their existing obligations under the Convention

Then read the Fund's webpage:
The GCF is clearly one of the main means in which financial transfer was supposed to occur from developed to non-developed countries. How are you an environmentalist and ignorant of all this? How can you say "It doesn't require anyone to pay anyone else any money." Are you for real?
I still remember your tears about Trump withdrawing from the Paris Accord, and you didn't even know that it involved billions of dollars of wealth transfer per year? Are you for real?
Tech entrepreneurs considering trying to make a buck out of starting a solar-panel manufacturing company aren't your average greenie environmentalist.Last edited by demi-conservative; 12-09-2019, 04:34 AM.Remember that you are dust and to dust you shall return.

Imagine getting your panties in a twist

Originally posted by Starlight View PostIf and when the US withdraws from the Paris agreement, I will personally contact the environmental groups I know and encourage them to start a BDS movement, and write to my political parties (something I have never done before) and encourage them to openly condemn and propose sanctions on the US over this issue. You can bet that if it makes me get active in politics to a level I never have before, it will make others around the world do the same.

Btw, not only are countries falling short of their obligations to the Paris Agreement, but even if those expectations were met it too would fall short of even being effective. Gee, who couldn't see that coming.

What is really sad is the extreme difficulty of getting people with both the knowledge (capacity to understand and recognize the science for what it is) and the wisdom to react appropriately into office. We either end up with a complete scientific illiterates like Trump, a person who not merely disrespects knowledge and experience, but who is the poster boy for dunning kruger in terms of his belief in his own grasp of the issues, or people that do not understand that feeding 10 billion people and giving them a reasonable quality of life does not allow for a instant elimination of carbon emissions.
I would blame a lot of that on the ignorance of the larger public on scientific issues coupled the complete lack of a conscience in our political and business leadership.Last edited by oxmixmudd; 12-09-2019, 09:19 AM.My brethren, do not hold your faith in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ with an attitude of personal favoritism. No, blame it on the socialist tendencies of those writing the rules.
