Yeah, the whole thing was stupid really, now the papers who up until now have been trying to demomonise the protestors have something finally to sink their teeth into so they can safefully dismiss the whole thing. Even some of the 'leaders' of extinction rebellion agree. The group itself doesn't have any centralised leadership so it's not surprising, though it is depressing, that this happened.
