That's the liberal talking point, yes, but it negates the power of the third branch of government, and concedes it to a handful of partisans on ONE COMMITTEE from ONE HALF of one of the branches of government.

Trump is not King. Neither is Nadler.
Judge Jackson already made it clear in the Mcgahn case. The President is not a King, and just like McGahn himself, the President can't block witnesses or documentation.

In that particular case, Jim. And that's not SCOTUS. Jackson is a District judge.

      Yeah, neither is Nadler.

The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.

So, you're worried that McConnell might treat the Dems like they treated the Repubs. How dastardly!

No worries, CP. While your country is split along party lines, ours is split at the England/Scotland border.

My family hails from the north of Scotland. My wife's from that troublesome Ireland part. You know.... "up there".

But my DNA test shows I'm 50% Cherokee Indian.

                              • Er, no. The Court has decided limited issues between the branches before so it's not as straightforward as you are arguing.

But more to the point if the president can abuse his power then it follows that all branches are capable of abuse of power. A partisan effort to remove a duly elected president without significant cause surely is an abuse of the power of impeachment.

The House Democrats may not be legally held to the highest standards of the law but falling short of them is political suicide. We Americans take the rights and protections granted by the Constitution very seriously. We expect much more of our representatives than a partisan hack job.
