It looks to me like Zelenskyy was going out of his way to kiss Trump's butt, and Trump was being blunt about his request, like he normally is. Because Zelenskyy was practically grovelling with no backbone and Trump was more direct, they're interpreting that as a shakedown.

When all is said and done, at the end of the day, it only matters what the general voter will think. To many, I'm guessing, it will look like an exchange between a leader with a backbone and one with no backbone.
