July 25th 2019 at 2:10 am Virginia Beach Emergency Communications received a call for a shooting that had just occurred at the 7-11 located at 130 South Newtown Road.
Officers arrived on scene and located two males suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. One person was pronounced deceased and the other was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Investigators learned that the two males had entered the 7-11 and were attempting to commit an armed robbery of the store clerks. Another citizen, who was already in the store and in possession of a legal weapon, confronted and ultimately shot the suspects. An officer located a third person a short distance away from the 7-11 and took him into custody.
Earlier in the evening, at 12:28 am, another armed robbery was committed at the 7-11 located 1010 Pacific Avenue. During that incident, three armed males entered the store and robbed them of cigarettes and smoking devices. There were no injuries reported during this event.
At this time it is believed that these three suspects are responsible for both overnight robberies in our city, as well as others that occurred in other jurisdictions.
This is still a very active investigation. Charges are pending on the suspect in custody; this release will be updated to reflect those charges once that occurs. Additional information on the deceased and injured suspect will be provided as soon as it becomes available.

So apparently they had robbed other stores previously.
I guess they won't be doing that any more..
