That stark reality is that the memo represents the assessment of the world, not a petty outburst by this ambassador.

First of all, "Diplomats from around the world told CNN..."
OK, but which diplomats? Let's continue reading the story:
"...a European official familiar with Washington..."
"...one embassy official..."
"One person familiar with the situation..."
"Several diplomats..."
"...one current ambassador in Washington..."
Yep, looks like more "sources say" BS to me.
Even if we give them the benefit of the doubt that they really did talk to real people, it looks like they only interviewed at most five people (if we're being generous) who support the narrative they wanted to tell and ran with it. There is hardly room in the story to fit in your sweeping generalization that Darroch's petty little screed necessarily reflects the sentiments of the world. Some may call me foolish, and some may call me odd

JimMy brethren, do not hold your faith in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ with an attitude of personal favoritism. James 2:1
If anyone thinks himself to be religious, and yet does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this man’s religion is worthless James 1:26
This you know, my beloved brethren. But everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger; James 1:19

Are you seriously admitting that you cannot figure out why they would not want to be named?

It's an old local news trick to find three or four people willing to comment about an issue and then run the headline "Local citizens are outraged about such-and-so!"Some may call me foolish, and some may call me odd
