The name of this so called National Emergency is Donald J Trump. Would someone please give him a box of Lego to play with ... and grab his phone!

So this just flashed across my news feed, and relates to the issue of Trump and his speech tonight. I found it to be a fair breakdown of what is going on. In a nutshell, many on the right find the hesitation of the media to air Trump's speech to be an indictment of their impartiality - affirming what the right has long said about the media (see MM's post below for a perfect example). For many on the left (and many moderates), giving a pathological liar a national microphone to spew yet more lies and misinformation is a travesty, and any media outlet dedicated to presenting the truth should be thinking twice.
I agree - it is a travesty - but we elected that travesty into office and I don't see that the media outlets should take it on themselves to treat him differently just because the man cannot get through a sentence (or at least a paragraph) without lying outright. Instead, they should be prepared to review the speech at the end with a panel comprising representatives from both sides to discuss the speech and shine a spotlight on the lies - and they should make it clear before the speech and immediately after the speech that this panel will occur. Meanwhile, I agree with Colbert's summary of the upcoming speech: tonight, you should turn to CBS to see B.S.
It's also somewhat ironic that the man who constantly labels any outlet except those parroting his lies as "false news" then needs their air time to spread his lies. I cannot wait until this vile man is shown the door...Last edited by carpedm9587; 01-08-2019, 11:38 AM.The ultimate weakness of violence is that it is a descending spiral begetting the very thing it seeks to destroy...returning violence for violence multiplies violence, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Not a particularly good one - but it is an idea...
