The ultimate weakness of violence is that it is a descending spiral begetting the very thing it seeks to destroy...returning violence for violence multiplies violence, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. Martin Luther King

There's the official party platform, and then there's what the individual politicians believe. For instance, the official stance on impeachment, according to Nancy Pelosi, is that they're not going to consider it or even talk about it unless there is clear evidence of a crime. Meanwhile, there are members of the House already yelling, "We're going to impeach the blankety-blank!" and filing the necessary motions.
So when someone says that they agree with the Democrat party, what do they actually agree with? The lip-service party platform, or what the Democrats actually fight for in Congress? Some may call me foolish, and some may call me odd

And I've been thinking of CP's comment about my relationship with the two parties. When I wander through the Republican platform, I find I agree with about 40% of the "what," and very little of the "how." When I wander through the Democratic platform, I find I agree with most of the "what," and about half of the "how." There is little doubt I lean strongly left on social issues, and more to the right on fiscal issues. A significant amount of our discussion here tends to be about social issues. And I have been very vocal about wanting the Dems to take the house in 2018. These may be the reasons for CP's impression of my allegiance with the Democrats. The ultimate weakness of violence is that it is a descending spiral begetting the very thing it seeks to destroy...returning violence for violence multiplies violence, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Trump can't keep his own lies straight from one hour to the next or sometimes even one sentence to the next.
One thing the Republican party used to be really good at was having their advisers concoct their weekly set of agreed-upon lies and distributing those to all Republican politicians who would then all head into interviews and spout them over and over. That was a really powerful propaganda weapon because it reinforced the lies in the minds of the populace to hear them repeated by multiple different people on multiple outlets. The Democrats suck at messaging by comparison and have typically relied on just having good policies and hoping the voters can see the difference. Under Trump though, the coordination of Republican lies has been blown away, as Trump can't even keep his own lies straight, never-mind follow a weekly script someone hands him."I hate him passionately", he's "a demonic force" - Tucker Carlson, in private, on Donald Trump
"Every line of serious work that I have written since 1936 has been written, directly or indirectly, against totalitarianism and for democratic socialism" - George Orwell
"[Capitalism] as it exists today is, in my opinion, the real source of evils. I am convinced there is only one way to eliminate these grave evils, namely through the establishment of a socialist economy" - Albert Einstein

Well, that, and the fact that you seem to endlessly find fault with anything conservative or Republican, and glom onto anything progressive or Democratic. If you are not pretending to be "fair and balanced", and are ready to admit you're a partisan hack (though you can rephrase that to something more palatable) then I'll admit I have no grievance with you simply being a leftist. The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.
