    A) You will have a record of what happened date/time stamped by the USPS (just keep the letter and don't open it)
    2) It will help you focus your thoughts and document what you believe actually happened
    3) If, at a later time, you want to go public, you'll have the details recorded

It's not a slam dunk "it happened", but just think where we would be if Ford had done that, or written in a diary, or shared that information with a friend at the time it allegedly happened.
    That's a good idea....

Getting black out drunk is pretty rare and hard to do unless you are a dedicated alcoholic. They just wanted to get that possibility in so they could claim he just doesn't remember the incident.

Kind of like Kavanaugh keeping his calendars.

I actually was told something similar with regards to inventions. I had an idea for an invention, and I was told to document it all and mail it to myself - that was back in 1972. I also mailed a copy to my Dad for good measure.

Sure enough, I got in a patent battle with somebody who stole my idea, and I was able to produce my sealed envelope at a preliminary hearing, where it was opened in front of lawyers for both sides.

            I won.

Or, like me, one has a cast iron stomach. I have to be pretty sick to puke.

Just having an idea for something isn't enough for a patent. you have to actually make it work. Heck I have all sorts of ideas that don't exist yet. One of my favorites is digital glasses or contacts, where the lenses adapt to your prescription and can also double as display overlays for augmented reality, or allow you to see in the dark, or zoom in like binoculars. When they invent those, remember I thought of it first!

Yeah, most of my ideas were just "ideas", but I actually received cash awards for several of them. I worked at a place when I was a young man where the company actually encouraged "idea submissions" regarding processes and "making work more efficient".

I was a technical writer, but I used my breaks sometimes just to wander the plant and look for opportunities to improve processes. They had rewards of $100 up to $1,000, and I won the $1,000 award twice, and several smaller awards. $1,000 was like 3 months pay back then!

My very first opportunity to preach as a guest at another church - I was probably 18 - I arrived in the area fairly early, and - for reasons I can't even imagine - I stopped at a store and bought some blueberry yogurt and a half pint of dutch chocolate milk.

I was already nervous, so this awakened Ralph with a mighty force.

The only thing I recall was Zima - and I'd probably have been fine if I hadn't decided I needed to finish the last one; it gently came back up later after I'd fallen asleep.

So first of all, unless there is more than one GoFundMe page, the number was actually $611K as of a few moments ago. You might also note what it is being spent on. They have moved four times since this began, are paying for security services, and are the constant recipient of threats of harm. I wonder just how much she actually feels that her willingness to come forward was "worth it."

ETA: Actually, there is a https://www.gofundme.com/to-cover-dr...security-costs that is no longer accepting donations. It has raised just over $209K, making the total over $820K.

Also, Kavanaugh also had a Gofundme page created for him (neither apparently created their own). Hers was targeted to $150K and raised $611. His was targeted to $600K and raised almost exactly the same amount as hers, again, as of this morning.

The entire situation has been ugly on both sides, IMO. Our politicians are not showing their finest sides. And the finger pointing between parties doesn't really achieve much of anything, IMO, except to further divide us all.

                              • Seer - Sorry to chase you down this way, but I cannot PM you because your mailbox is at its limit. I tried to send you this:

Seer, things are a bit in flux on my end. Hurricane Michael is slated to pass right over the top of where I am teaching, which is causing me to move things around a bit. I might be leaving here as early as 11:00 AM, which would put me in your neck of the woods around 8:00 PM on Friday. Also, I just learned that my birthday party apparently starts at 12:00 and it's 4.5 hours from your place to my sister's house, which means I should be on the road by around 7:30 AM. So if we still want to connect, we could either do a late dinner (or just a beer) on Friday, or a very early breakfast (like 6:30?) on Saturday. All of this is still in flux, so I'll keep you posted.

If you'd rather skip and do it another time, I will certainly understand. My lifestyle is highly fluid...
