Ron DeSantis, the Republican nominee for Florida Governor told Fox News this morning that Florida shouldn't "monkey this up" by electing Democratic nominee Andrew Gillum.

"It's disgusting that Ron DeSantis is launching his general election campaign with racist dog whistles," Florida Democratic Party Chairwoman Terrie Rizzo said.

I had no idea who either Ron DeSantis or Andrew Gillum is given my ignorance of US politics, but after googling both of them I'd have to say that regardless of whether or not DeSantis used "monkey this up" as a racist dog whistle or not it was still an incredibly moronic thing to do and he should have known better.

The real racists are the ones who hear the word "monkey" and immediately think "black person". DeSantis, not being a racist, obviously used the term in its most innocent sense, but that's not about to stop white hooded liberals and professional victims from winking at each other and saying, "We know what he REALLY meant."

Nah, that's just an excuse you guys are using. There is such a thing as wilful ignorance. You'd have to be deaf, dumb and blind to the history of black people on that. And on top of that you'd have to simply not care whether you offended people who had been historically abused.

So... either he's literally ignorant about history, in which case he can be criticised. Or he's not, in which case he can be criticised a lot harder.
