That's total bull. A mixed race person is a mixed race person. Usually they are what they identify as. Obama looks black and identifies as black. Many times mixed race people are rejected by both races when they try to claim to be one or the other. Kinda sad actually. Obama is lucky that he looks black and can "pass" as black. A friend of mine is married to a black guy and her children are obviously mixed race. They look more hispanic than white or black. They will probably grow up having difficulty identifying as either group.

Is this how you pretend that you conservative white southern US evangelicals aren't the intellectual, cultural, and genetic heirs to the defenders of slavery? By pointing out that when your ancestors fought to defend slavery the party they voted for was the Democratic Party? And that since now the labels on the parties have flipped around, that therefore the descendants of those who fought to free the slaves and who themselves fight for the rights of black people in the present day, are 'really' the slavery people because the party label happens to match? Cos that's pretty pathetic. Is it a successful self-deception?
