Yes, well Thomas Jeffereson didn't live in the 21st century and they didn't have the heavy artillery or nuclear bombs that we have today. They may have had their crackpots at the time, but they couldn't go around shooting 550 people in a matter of minutes.

Not to mention the numerous times that those who avidly support stricter gun control have later gotten in trouble for possessing and using a firearm (including illegal ones).

      For example
      • The president of the Illinois chapter of the "Million Mom March[1]Access Hollywood

      1. a rally held on Mother's Day in 2000 in Washington D.C. calling for stricter gun control and notorious for their propagating wildly inflated numbers of children killed or injured by firearms that the MSM repeated unquestioningly for several years

They didn't have large trucks that could kill 85 people and wound 100 others in a matter of minutes either, so...

He didn't have a telephone, TV, radio or a computer either so I guess that means those should not be covered by the First Amendment then.

            As I already posted

Further he didn't live in a house made of modern materials complete with indoor toilets, air conditioning, central heating or electricity. I guess that means that modern houses are not covered by the search and seizure clause of the 4th Amendment either.

Stop being an idiot for once jimmy. Nobody is saying that citizens should have heavy artillery or nuclear weapons so please drop that deliberate attempt to create a straw man

            • Yeah I think we can all agree that the 2nd amendment is not referring to private citizens owning WMDs.

There is bi-partisan support to ban them now but I think the cat is out of the bag. There will be a rush to buy them before they become illegal and with the advent of 3-D printers it will be incredibly easy to make your own.

Well, bump-stocks came into existence when there was no law against them and that being the case the ATF signed off on them. Dem. Sen. Dianne Feinstein tried to pass legislation in 2012 to ban bump-stocks, but it failed to pass. I can only imagine who blocked that bill from passing.

Apparently there was very little support even among her liberal colleagues. Even now there is a significant number of Democrat Representatives and Senators who have indicated that they would not support sweeping gun control proposals.

                        • I'm all for gun control.

Proper trigger discipline, firm, two-handed grip, familiarity with the operation of the firearm, etc. A gun should never be used without proper, common-sense control.

An analysis performed for CNN found that states that have enacted magazine restrictions are associated with fewer mass shooting events.
"Whether a state has a large capacity ammunition magazine ban is the single best predictor of the mass shooting rate in that state, " said Michael Siegel, a community health science professor at Boston University, who conducted the analysis. These states are associated with a 63% lower rate of mass shootings, according to his analysis.

Really, where did you come up with that, because you read that a democrat, Joe Manchin, from a very conservative state opposed it. LOL! In 2010, Feinsteins bill didn't even get a vote!
