What did my response have to do with any of that?

As it happens, the Constitution says nothing whatsoever about secession; it's not so much "illegal" as not addressed at all - which is why places like New England threatened it earlier and Texas and California have threatened to do so since.

They were setting up a new country grounded in slavery and racism...as pined after by the KKK to this very day.

The North was racist also. As was most of the world. In fact you liberals whine that it still is.

Where slavery and racism existed is besides the point, only the south rebelled against the U.S. governments abolition of slavery.

The Official platform, that Lincoln ran on, was to limit the spread of slavery. Not abolish it.

It was to both limit the spread into the western territories as well as to end the trade itself. First step.

The slave trade was ended in 1808, Jim. You probably shouldn't speak on topics in which you are underinformed.

No it wasn't ended, the importation of slaves continued in the south until the 1860's despite the law banning it signed by THOMAS JEFFERSON in 1807. You probably shouldn't speak on topics in which you are uninformed.
