I predict that the case will either be dismissed, or Smith will panic under the sunlight and will withdraw the charges to avoid further scrutiny.Atheism is the cult of death, the death of hope. Sorry, but you can't have the prosecution confess to mishandling and tampering with a key piece of evidence and then just carry on with the trial as if nothing happened. It's the equivalent of documenting objects to be in one location at a crime scene only for the photographs to show them in a different location. Which represents the truth, the documentation, or the photographs? It's impossible to say. Even worse is the fact that the prosecution initially lied to the court about it and said there were no discrepancies, and that they had maintained proper custody of the evidence. Which begs the question: what else has the prosecution lied about? Sure, they can claim they are still able to confidently match documents to their placeholders, but can they really? It's now all fruit from a poison tree.
No, this isn't the only reason Judge Cannon put the brakes on the trial, but it is a very significant one (I suspect it falls under discovery disputes since the prosecution was not honest about the evidence that was in their possession). As one commenter said, the tables have turned, and for all intents and purposes, it is Jack Smith who is now on trial.
Which "key piece of evidence" has been tampered with? The prosecution certainly has not "confessed" to evidence tampering and the mishandling of documents within a particular box does not rise to the point of invalidating the fact that those documents were found within those boxes at Mar-a-Lago. Even if it did, these are a few relevant documents among many; if the prosecution cannot use two or three classified documents out of mishandling concerns, it has scores more from which to choose.
The prosecution did not lie to the court; it acknowledges that what it had conveyed, on information, turned out to be inaccurate. This is routine for both prosecution and defense.
You'll have to keep fishing.

I'm convinced elected officials are exposed to carrots and sticks by the establishment machinery once they reach Congress. If they don't play the game, they will end up a lame duck or end up in court (like OMB).

Jay Bratt, who was the lead DOJ prosecutor on the investigation at the time and now is assigned to Smith’s team, described the photo this way in his August 30, 2022 response to Trump’s special master lawsuit:
“[Thirteen] boxes or containers contained documents with classification markings, and in all, over one hundred unique documents with classification markings…were seized. Certain of the documents had colored cover sheets indicating their classification status. (Emphasis added.) See, e.g., Attachment F (redacted FBI photograph of certain documents and classified cover sheets recovered from a container in the ‘45 office’).”
The DOJ’s clever wordsmithing, however, did not accurately describe the origin of the cover sheets. In what must be considered not only an act of doctoring evidence but willfully misleading the American people into believing the former president is a criminal and threat to national security, agents involved in the raid attached the cover sheets to at least seven files to stage the photo.
Classified cover sheets were not “recovered” in the container, contrary to Bratt’s declaration to the court. In fact, after being busted recently by defense attorneys for mishandling evidence in the case, Bratt had to fess up about how the cover sheets actually ended up on the documents.
Here is Bratt’s new version of the story, where he finally admits a critical detail that he failed to disclose in his August 2022 filing:
“[If] the investigative team found a document with classification markings, it removed the document, segregated it, and replaced it with a placeholder sheet. The investigative team used classified cover sheets for that purpose.”

Another Trump Trial Derailed: Fani-Donating Judge's Decision To Keep Her On RICO Trial Under Scrutiny By Appeals Court
One day after former President Donald Trump's classified documents trial was postponed indefinitely after we learned that the DOJ mishandled evidence in the case (with Judge Aileen M. Cannon citing a mountain of 'outstanding' pre-trial matters that would make a May 20 trial 'imprudent'), another Trump case appears to have no chance of going to trial before the 2024 election.
On Wednesday, a Georgia appeals court agreed to review a lower court ruling which allowed Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis to remain on the Trump RICO prosecution despite being highly conflicted.

You've made a Herculean effort at twisting yourself up from a meritless complaint into a full-blown conspiracy but the facts remain on the table (or the floor, in this case).
