Delusional "Squad" Rep. Bowman Wants $14 Trillion in Reparations

A New York lawmaker wants the federal government to push a $14 trillion reparations measure.

The measure is touted by “Squad” member Rep. Jamaal Bowman, D-N.Y., who wants the federal government to be held accountable for slavery and the aftermath of it, according to the Journal News.

Bowman cited the federal government’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the “space race” endeavor as examples that would make the measure feasible.

“When COVID was destroying us, we invested in the American people in a way that kept the economy afloat,” said Bowman. “The government can invest the same way in reparations without raising taxes on anyone.”

“Where did the money come from?” Bowman said. “We spent it into existence.”

Bowman is among nine sponsors of H.R. 414, which seeks to establish that the US has “a moral and legal obligation to provide reparations for the enslavement of Africans and its lasting harm on the lives of millions of Black people in the United States.”

The measure, introduced in 2023, would prompt the federal government to spend $14 trillion on a reparations program that would support the descendants of enslaved Black people and people of African descent.

The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.

“We spent it into existence.” Sounds as awfully ignorant as Little Justin's "the budget will balance itself".

Why do people think that the citizens of either country will stand for this nonsense much longer?

If they are seeking reparation, shouldn't they be seeking it from the people who sold the slaves in the first place?

Think of it as a transfer of wealth from white folks to black folks by means of taxation. Or simply, if you are black, you pay taxes at a lower rate than whites.

The blacks could wear a hat saying Make Blacks Rich Again.

Let’s make a go of it!

There would be a need to exempt certain people from receiving the "reparations" - descendants of black slaves owned by blacks, for example.

And what is to be done about descendants of white slaves, or Asian?

Think of it as a total SCAM attempting to be foisted on people who NEVER OWNED slaves to people who NEVER WERE slaves.

Yeah and all that free covid money is responsible for the inflation we have.

Why are democrats so dumb when it comes to simple economics? If there is too much money floating around, it will cause prices to increase of everything. After the dust settles, everyone is right back in the same place they were before

Millions of blacks are descendants of white slave owners. And millions of whites have ancestors who were slaves. And millions of blacks living here never had any ancestors who were slaves, they came here after the civil war.

It's nonsense. All reparations talk does is rile people up on both sides of the issue. Politicians promise it to get votes but never follow through. Because they know it can never pass. It is undoable in any meaningful way. Maybe one day they will do a token reparations bill, where everyone gets a token amount, like $500. Which will just piss them off worse.

Or the rich liberals can take up a collection and dole out the money themselves!

Blacks who either they or their families moved here since slavery ended should be exempt.

And how about those of mixed race? Do they pay themselves?

You've got similar issues regarding whites.

Those who came to the U.S. after slavery should be exempt.

And how about those with ancestors seriously wounded or killed during the Civil War? Didn't they already pay any imagined debt?
