Apparently liberals are trying to spin the narrative that today's hearings were legally good for Trump but politically damaging.

I don't think anybody expected him to emerge entirely unscathed because the point of these hearings was to damage him legally and/or politically. But there's a reason his lawyers are out there doing victory laps.

Yeah, Comey seems to have a very high opinion of himself and have a kind of savior-complex where he wants to be seen as saving the US from teh eViL politicians.

From what we've seen of him over the last year has made me think he's just not very competent. He consistently mishandled the Hillary email investigation. The decision to publicly lecture Hillary for bad practices but not prosecute her was bizarre and then the last-minute mess prior to the election of "we're reopening the email case.... oh, no, don't mind me, we're not. Hope I haven't messed up the election! k. thx bye." was completely unprofessional and unacceptable. And he doesn't seem to have handled Trump very well, neither working successfully with Trump, nor successfully investigating Trump, nor managing to create a clear and explicit case against Trump for obstruction of justice.

So Comey implied that he employs different standards depending on the party affiliation of the person he is investigating. He openly admitted to leaking details about private official conversations with the President to the press.

So naturally the liberal narrative today is about how honest Comey is.

You can't make this up.

Another interesting revelation, Comey said that he saw a number of stories about the Russian conspiracy in the mainstream media that were "dead wrong".

This is true to the extent that even if there was evidence of law breaking by Trump you certainly wouldn't want Comey handling it.

Yeah he has done some passive-aggressive moves that show his true biases, like letting Hillary skate, and leaking the notes to the press. But overall, he seems to be pretty open and honest when under oath. Admitting he did the leaking at least shows he isn't lying to just make himself look good. That might come back to bite him.
