This whole thing where people get lynched in the media is repulsive to me.

I'm letting people know that this is how I feel about it so when a conservative does it and gets mobbed I can defend him/her without appearing hypocritical.

What she did was tasteless (and she is a genuine idiot).
I just hate to see the people's court go after people's careers.
No mind reading, just: She was "caught on video mocking the impending firestorm during the photo shoot." That is before the whole thing happened.

It looks like Al Franken (the guy who wanted to do a comedy skit on Saturday Night Live where he pretends to rape CBS News reporter Lesley Stahl) is already working on the rehabilitation saying that he plans to appear with her at an event in early July because she deserves forgiveness since she was open about having gone too far.

Like Jed says, she and the Photographer PLANNED to go too far. She said, "We will have to move to Mexico after this!" and laughed about it. It wasn't unexpected or a mistake. You can see that in the TMZ video on the link I provided earlier.

I'm sure she didn't believe she'd get the blowback that she's received.
It is common before doing a crazy stunt to make those sorts of claims.

I think she (and many others) don't understand Trump supporters.
She lives in a bubble on the coast and thinks that 4 people in Iowa voted for Trump and that is about it.
Actually YOU put Trump in the White House. He wouldn't have gotten 1% of the vote if it wasn't for the widespread spiritual and cultural devastation caused by progressive policies. There's no "this country" left with your immigration policies, your "allies" are worthless and even more suicidal than you are and democracy is a sick joke that I hope nobody ever thinks about repeating when the current order collapses. - Darth_Executor striking a conciliatory note in Civics 101

I think she assumed that only hardcore Trump supporters would be upset, and everybody would just laugh at them. She probably never expected to lose advertising contracts and her New Year's Eve gig at CNN. Saying she lives in a bubble is accurate.

It's worth bearing in mind that under 20% of Americans voted for Trump. He got just under 63 million votes, and there are about 323 million people in America. I know Trump voters like to feel like they're in the majority because Trump won, but bear in mind that more than 80% of Americans did not cast a vote for Trump.

Of course similar empty statistics could be provided concerning Obama and essentially every president who preceded them for the last century or two.

She likely looked back at all the others who have done similar stunts concerning Republicans and figured that the publicity and back slapping support from other leftists will more than outweigh any backlash.

What conclusions can be drawn from that? Nothing really. You could conclude that they didn't like any of the choices, or perhaps they liked all the choices and were fine with whoever won, or they simply don't care and just go on living their lives regardless of who is in the White House.

Nearly 25% are under the age of 18; therefore, they aren't eligible to vote.

Is that 20% the percentage of the population, or the % of the eligible voters?

It's no criticism of Trump that he failed to attract the votes of three-year-olds.
