War by it's very nature is a nightmare. People have been buried alive, napalmed, incinerated - you name it. Nobody ever plays fair in war, including us. If we were in a war and the difference between winning and losing was using chemical weapons, you can bet we'd use them ourselves.

This was a violation of that treaty and so we retaliated as punishment for that more than the actual horror of the attack.

Obama drew a red line and when it was crossed he abided by the Constitution and went to congress for approval to act, they didn't approve, and then, as is their usual way of doing business, they put the blame on Obama for not acting. Trump acted illegally, like a King, he disregarded the Constitution and Congress. We send people to Congress to represent the best interests of the country, not to obstruct simply for political gain.

So? Like we've never broken a treaty before? We waterboard POW's which is in violation of the Geneva convention, yet nobody really has a problem with it - many will in fact defend it's usage. Nothing is ever done to us because we have the biggest military several times over, so we can get away with anything we want to do. The CIA has done human testing on people, funded blood thirsty maniacs, sold weapons to terrorists, and deliberately started trouble in all kinds of countries in the name of American imperialism.

The rest of the world has been on to our dirty tricks for awhile now, and is aware of how full of blank we are.

Attacking one air base in a limited fashion doesn't really get us overtly involved. It was a specific response to a use of chemical weapons, and it's a warning for Syria to not use chemical weapons any more.

On the other hand, we've been covertly involved in helping the rebels for a long time now.
