Time to turn this on its head...
Let's say, for the sake of argument, that the dribs and drabs that made it to American newspapers and magazines in the early and mid 30s was sufficient to warn us about what was coming in later years, such as the ghettos and then concentration camps of the 40s, then shouldn't the Germans (as well as the Austrians and many Czechs) have been doing far more to help the Jews and resist the Nazis? After all, they would be privy to far more about Hitler and the Nazis than what we would hear over here on this side of the pond.
So, why were they not doing far more to help those targeted for extermination than the little they did do which was obviously woefully insufficient?
