Why? That doesn't follow from what I said. I don't get why what some environmentalists say bothers you so much. I agree we should all, politicians and celebrities, et al. do more to minimize our footprint. I'm just a realist, just as basically any of the political suggestions have been nothing but realistic.

Are we therefore excused to start pollutting and accelerating global warming (so you can buy more stuff cheaply). No, that's idiotic and selfish.

About the only celeb environmentalist that I'm aware of who practices what he preaches is Ed Begley Jr. He actually seems to live by example rather than being just another do-as-I-say-not-as-I-do hypocrite. He lives in a LEED-platinum certified house (the highest environmental rating from the U.S. Green Building Council) which is solar-powered has composting toilets and a huge rainwater tank for his fruit and vegetable garden. He's driven electric cars exclusively since the early 70s.
