As of today, none of the "Big Three" networks (ABC, CBS, NBC) along with MSNBC have said a word whereas CNN has spent all of 3 minutes covering the story during their 24 hour a day news coverage. Source: Eric Swalwell, a Chinese ‘honeytrap’ and FBI double standards

Rep. Eric Swalwell cut off contact with a young woman allegedly spying for China as soon as the FBI gave him a defensive briefing alerting him to the situation. Why didn’t the FBI give Team Trump the same option — instead of spying on it?

Fang Fang, a k a Christine Fang, got close to several politicians, especially in the Bay Area, from 2011 to 2015, only to abruptly leave the country as the FBI was closing in. US officials believe China’s Ministry of State Security, its main civilian spy agency, sent her here to collect intelligence and gain influence with up-and-coming politicians.

Since Democrats dominate Bay Area politics, she focused on officials such as Swalwell, starting when he was a Dublin City councilman and continuing after he won election to Congress in 2012. She turned out to have a good eye for talent: The congressman became a member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence in 2015, getting the lead role in the subcommittee on CIA oversight.

Axios reports Fang had sexual relationships with at least two Midwestern mayors; Swalwell won’t say whether he slept with the honeytrap. He interacted with her at a number of public events over the years, and she was a fundraising bundler for his 2014 re-election campaign. She even helped place an intern in his office.

But then the FBI, in the midst of a counterintelligence probe into Fang’s activities, briefed him in 2015, and he cut all ties (though his father and brother remain Facebook friends with her).

Swalwell claims Axios’ scoop, which the outlet says was the result of a year-long investigation, was leaked as payback for his work to impeach President Trump. Indeed, he’s angrier about the leak than he is about China targeting him.

Pretty rich, when Swalwell for years promoted every Russian-collusion conspiracy theory he could find.

Yet no one connected to the president was found to have colluded with Russia, though the FBI tried awfully hard to pin that charge on Carter Page. Why didn’t the bureau give Page and the other Trump advisers it was examining a defensive briefing when it became concerned Russia might be using them?

Instead, the bureau lied to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court to get repeated permission to spy on Page — which came to nothing, wasting FBI resources and ultimately harming the agency’s reputation. Was the Obama FBI really as apolitical as disgraced director Jim Comey claims?

While the double standard exhibited by the FBI is interesting[1], that isn't really the point.

As the article notes, Swalwell refuses to answer questions about whether he slept with her. He even told (through his office) Fox News' Tucker Carlson that he couldn't comment because that was "classified" information without elaborating on or explaining what he meant by that. He has used that same line when Axios asked for an interview but has provided several interviews since then. I guess when it comes to saving his own skin something being "classified" isn't all that important, or maybe he is just using it as an excuse to avoid questions that he doesn't want to answer.

And while he apparently severed ties with her, his family (both his father and brother) still[2] remain Facebook friends with her. What's up with that?

And why is he still on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence if he has very likely been compromised? I will note that calls are now coming in calling for him to step down from the Committee, at least temporarily, until this can be hashed out.

Needless to say, the Democrat Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi is circling the wagons around him[3] The San Francisco Chronicle reports (behind a paywall) that her spokesman, Drew Hammill, declared that she has "full confidence" in Swalwell as both a member of Congress and of the Intelligence Committee. Interesting to note that Swalwell was briefed about Fang Fang or Christine Fang right about the same time she appointed him to the Intelligence Committee. I wonder if she knew about this when she picked him and if not would she have made that choice.

In any event, this is just getting started and you might even hear it mentioned on MSM broadcasts some day.

    1. and the same thing was pointed out when it was learned that the person Sen. Dianne Feinstein employed as her chauffer and worked as her liaison with the local Asian-American community for several years had been a Chinese spy when she was chair of the powerful Senate Select Committee on Intelligence.

    2. it looks like they may have finally just unfriended her

    3. just like she did for members of "the squad" proclaiming there was "no taint" of antisemitism anywhere with the Democratic Party after some of them released several anti-Semitic statements.
    UPDATE:

Nets Punt on Stunning New Details About Chinese Woman, Swalwell
Former Washington Examiner Justice reporter Jerry Dunleavy revealed Sunday in a series of lengthy tweets that, per a source, senior FBI leadership meddled in and shuttered investigations into Fang Fang, the rumored ex-lover of Congressman Eric Swalwell (D-CA) as well as Russell Lowe, a Chinese-American who had been working for Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA).

But most notable was something long the subject of speculation and giggles on Twitter, which was, as Dunleavy confirmed, “that there had been a sexual relationship between Swalwell & Fang.” Naturally, none of this was of interest to the “big three” of ABC, CBS, and NBC on their flagship Sunday night and Monday morning newscasts.

In the first tweet, Dunleavy explained the new reporting “raise[s] serious concerns about how the FBI top brass may have politicized these two investigations” to the point of “essentially end[ing]” the probes, preventing law enforcement from “fully investigat[ing] CCP espionage targeting two high-profile Democrats.”

He recapped both tales for the uninitiated, noting both Fang and Lowe knew each other, “were believed to be co-optees of the Chinese Ministry of State Security (MSS) — the CCP’s intelligence & secret police agency response for foreign intelligence & counterintelligence operations worldwide” and both spoke with Chinese intelligence officials.

Turning to Fang Fang, Dunleavy dropped the bomb after referring to a 2020 story in Axios:

One thing that was actually not in the Axios story but which my source has confirmed — the FBI firmly believed based on the evidence they collected on Fang that there had been a sexual relationship between Swalwell & Fang.

He added that said official told him "the FBI had FISA surveillance up & running on Fang...and so many of her actions & communications were being intercepted & monitored.” This also drew in the CIA and the NSA.

They eventually came to believe she wasn’t "a Chinese intelligence officer herself, but rather a willing tool of Chinese intel services."

Things grew even more serious as, according to Dunleavy, "[t]he FBI further opened a parallel public corruption case directly related to all of this and made Swalwell a subject of the case...looking into the possibilities of illegal foreign donations from the Chinese government, possible quid pro quo, and possible bribery".

Along with Fang fundraising for Swalwell in 2014, Dunleavy said Swalwell’s "D.C. office also provided an internship for Fang’s family friend, per the source, with the FBI believing the internship was provided as a favor to Fang."

A year later, Swalwell joined the House Intelligence Committee, leading to “the FBI’s top leadership...decid[ing] to provide Swalwell with a defensive briefing in 2015, which effectively shut down the dual investigations by the bureau.”

Dunleavy said this move was the nexus of “heated disagreement” with agents “want[ing] to keep investigating.” But, by giving Swalwell the briefing, Fang got wind of this and fled the country.

The pattern was much the same for Lowe (minus the relationship...that would have been gross)

Politico & other outlets wrote about Lowe starting in 2018, but again much of the following info is new. The Feinstein staffer was being looked at by the FBI for numerous years (since at least 2008), per the source, with a case opened against Lowe by the bureau because he met with a Chinese intelligence officer in San Francisco. According to the former FBI official from the counterintelligence world, Lowe had also secretly met with Chinese intel officers in China for years[.]

    (....)

The FBI investigation into Lowe moved slowly for a few years. That FBI investigation was eventually moved from being a counterintelligence case to counterespionage case, the source said, and the FBI was legitimately concerned by what Lowe was up to.

According to the source, the bureau worked on obtaining a FISA against Lowe...but the FISA never got submitted to the FISA Court, and the FBI pulled the FISA at the last minute in a very unusual move.

There was initial approval to search Lowe’s home...but that was called off when then-FBI deputy director Sean Joyce instead decided to give Feinstein a defensive briefing in the latter half of 2013.

    (....)

The source said FBI agents were told by then-FBI counterespionage section chief Louis Bladel that the prevailing reason for the FBI deputy director briefing Feisntein...was that the FBI needed Feinstein’s support and needed Feinstein on their side.

    (....)

Lowe left Feinstein’s office after she received her defensive briefing.

As Dunleavy noted in his fourth and final tweet on this, his source “pointed to the double standard in how FBI defensive briefings were used” with one “given to then-candidate Trump in 2016 was actually a pretextual briefing which the FBI exploited to advance its Crossfire Hurricane investigation.”

In contrast, ABC’s Good Morning America and NBC’s Today spent a combined 13 minutes and 58 seconds previewing Amazon’s Prime Day and competing deals from other retailers while CBS Mornings

It's astounding how not only is there a blatant two-tiered system within law enforcement and an absurd double standard in the MSM, but everything the Dems FALSELY accuse the Reps of are guilty of it themselves like multiple times over.

When you have this level of political corruption, with the feds actually engaging in blatant corruption themselves, does any conservative on this board think things will get better (save a miracle from the Lord himself)?

I get that there is some pushback occurring against all this stuff happening, but the pushback is occurring from the populace, not the power structure itself (by power structure, I don't just mean federal government, but our establishment media structure and the censorship that's coming from the top).
