OK you want a 1950's paradise. And you think it will happen if we imitate Russia and China and become socialist? Why was 1950's America so great? Was it because it was socialist? Heck no, it was because it was conservative and capitalist and you didn't have a bunch of whiny hippy liberals arguing over letting men use women's bathrooms, letting men marry each other and threatening to burn down the houses and businesses of anyone who disagreed with them, and whining about 1 percenters and demanding $15/hour to flip a hamburger.

You do realize the top tax rate in the 1950's (1951 - 1964) for 1 percenters was 91% right? Now, it's around 43%...and yet we had unprecedented economic growth. So, that seems to be at odds with the popular and current "trickle down" thinking.

We don't have to tax them into oblivion, but it seems odd that they pay less a percentage than those in much lower income levels doesn't it?

We had unprecedented economic growth because we had pretty much the only manufacturing base left in the world after WW2.

Ok... and now the effective is below 25% for them...so, why isn't it working? We've reduced the taxes on the wealthiest people but job growth isn't happening...and MY wages are actually going backwards...

I said "crap like that" - various other regulations and things like obamacare, useless environmental regulations and restrictions, killing off coal, and things like that. And what happens in one part of the country affects the whole country. Just because you aren't stuck with $15/hour minimum wage doesn't mean some other state isn't. That means that the costs to produce goods in that state goes up, so the price they sell the goods at goes up. That drives up the cost for that good all over the country, and increased the transportation costs. The liberals like to hamstring businesses, and then demand they pay more in wages and taxes. So what happens? The businesses either go belly up, raise their prices, or fire employees and go automated. That means unemployment and that means more people living off the government dole. Just like the democrats want it.

The Russians didn't start a killing spree. The LEADERS did. And they still do. Just look at North Korea and China. How long ago was Tiananmen Square? Would you like to live in today's China, Vietnam, or North Korea? People haven't changed. Socialism claims to put the power in the people, but in fact it puts all the power in one individual, the dictator. And for some reason, everytime that happens, the leader is or becomes completely corrupt and evil. If you want a system where the people have the power and the leaders have to follow the will of the people, well Jordan, you already have that in the USA. If things arent working the way you want, and enough people agree with you, you can change it. Without destroying our system of government and turning it into a socialist nightmare. Just stop whining and get off your butt and do something.

I am a small business owner. An entrepreneur. We're a small company, I work damn hard for not very much. My brother and I do most of the actual labor. Our least paid staff member gets paid less because he doesn't have the skills to do the job that actually gives us our products (he's young, he's still learning). And he doesn't have the knowledge of what strategic directions we need to take, he also bears little or no risk, should the business tank he works 9-5 and then goes home.
