You do realize the top tax rate in the 1950's (1951 - 1964) for 1 percenters was 91% right? Now, it's around 43%...and yet we had unprecedented economic growth. So, that seems to be at odds with the popular and current "trickle down" thinking.

We don't have to tax them into oblivion, but it seems odd that they pay less a percentage than those in much lower income levels doesn't it?

We had unprecedented economic growth because we had pretty much the only manufacturing base left in the world after WW2.

and by the time you kicked in all of the deductions, the effective tax rate for those rich people dropped to about 35%.

Ok... and now the effective is below 25% for them...so, why isn't it working? We've reduced the taxes on the wealthiest people but job growth isn't happening...and MY wages are actually going backwards...

Because the liberals want to pay burger flippers $15/hour. Crap like that raises the cost of goods and cost of living for everyone. Which means your dollar goes less than it used to.

If only it were that simple. $15/hour isn't here in Texas yet...so that's not even an answer. And that is only an attempt to answer the second question, why did you ignore the first question?

That is called "spin" - they are claiming that because obamacare is forcing so many uninsured people to be insured that any losses from obamacare will be made up by the gain in new patients to sell drugs to.

I said "crap like that" - various other regulations and things like obamacare, useless environmental regulations and restrictions, killing off coal, and things like that. And what happens in one part of the country affects the whole country. Just because you aren't stuck with $15/hour minimum wage doesn't mean some other state isn't. That means that the costs to produce goods in that state goes up, so the price they sell the goods at goes up. That drives up the cost for that good all over the country, and increased the transportation costs. The liberals like to hamstring businesses, and then demand they pay more in wages and taxes. So what happens? The businesses either go belly up, raise their prices, or fire employees and go automated. That means unemployment and that means more people living off the government dole. Just like the democrats want it.

Russia, China, Poland, North Korea, Laos, Cuba, and Vietnam were/are all Marxist. How did that work out for them?

You want a magic land where everyone is rich and never has to work and has every luxury they can imagine. Well, until Christ comes back, you are out of luck, bub. heck even then, you will have to work.
                      they were Marxist?

they were a classless egalitarian society?

Where no one had power over other people to declare them "enemies of the state" and have them executed?

                      Marxist?

what Marx brothers are you referring to?

                      ............

then there's your strawman, defining my position. "...want a magic land where everyone is rich and never has to work..."

I would like to see a nation where nobody is rich and everybody participates in the labor

that's completely the opposite of your mind-reading attempt.

Would you like to live in today's China, Vietnam, or North Korea? People haven't changed. Socialism claims to put the power in the people, but in fact it puts all the power in one individual, the dictator. And for some reason, everytime that happens, the leader is or becomes completely corrupt and evil. If you want a system where the people have the power and the leaders have to follow the will of the people, well Jordan, you already have that in the USA. If things arent working the way you want, and enough people agree with you, you can change it. Without destroying our system of government and turning it into a socialist nightmare. Just stop whining and get off your butt and do something.
again, you are still comparing Americans to those countries with a history of brutality and having brutal leaders.

Are you saying Americans are too stupid to rule themselves. What do you need a leader for if you have direct democracy, (we have the technology, everybody can decide laws with their phone)

All you would need to elect is managers, to oversee infrastructure and food production and manufacturing.

ELECT, not self appointed "entrepreneurs", not appointed supervisors, but ELECTED managers.

                          a DEMOCRATIC process.

it raises the cost of everything because entrepreneurs do not want to share their profit margin with the people doing the actual labor.

                            that's capitalism.

                              What a load of codswallop.

I am a small business owner. An entrepreneur. We're a small company, I work damn hard for not very much. My brother and I do most of the actual labor. Our least paid staff member gets paid less because he doesn't have the skills to do the job that actually gives us our products (he's young, he's still learning). And he doesn't have the knowledge of what strategic directions we need to take, he also bears little or no risk, should the business tank he works 9-5 and then goes home.

should we prove successful, I expect to reap the benefit of all my hard work.
