To expound on what Sparky said, part of the reason German Social policy and government works at least in the western portion, is because its not complete communism. The wage gap may not be as extreme as what a person sees in the US, However hardwork still has its rewards and benefits to be seen. You can't just simply ignore that part of economics. If you work, you get paid, if you don't work you don't get anything.

The thing that makes me upset with socialism is that it usually is implemented by the same crowd who during the sexual revolution claimed 'morality cannot be legislated'.
Taking my money to do something moral with it is exactly that, but I guess if your heart is in the right place you're no longer required to be rational.

That is so full of crap. Look, I have family who live in Germany. When East Germany fell and West Germany took over, you know what happened? They ended up with a failing economy because they had to take on half of an entire country that didn't do any real work and lived on socialist welfare. The socialists would have 2 or 3 people doing the same job, and that job did nothing actually productive because there was no real jobs there and too many people. So when Germany reunited, nobody had any skills in East Germany, and none of them wanted to work or learn. They expected West Germany to coddle them and give them a living for sitting on their rear ends like East Germany did. West Germany did just that for many years and their country suffered for it. At least now Eastern Germany is marginally self-sufficient, after nearly 30 years. So no. just NO. Socialism doesn't work, and people don't "self-regulate" ..........

they have 'Codetermination' policy in Germany. They don't self-regulate completely, but they self-regulate more than USA.

My uncle on my mother's side who stayed in Germany after WWII (US Army till he retired, stayed till 90s then returned to USA because daughter and husband in Denver) and married German lady.
He told me we in USA compared to Germany were getting screwed by our health care system.

I truly think that when Jesus comes back we will have a perfect society where people work because they enjoy it and not because they need to earn money. But that will take God changing our sinful nature into a glorified sinless nature and God himself leading us.

Germany isnt really socialist, it is more like Canada. capitalist with way too much social programs. people get a month of "health vacation" per year, to go to a spa for instance, and they have socialized medical, but nobody is guaranteed a job, Germans work hard for their money, and gripe about all the freeloaders. Its government is a federal republic.
