So I'm curious. I don't know how you view Dr. Mann's research, though I get the feeling that you're a bit dubious about him in particular. However, if Dr. Mann hasn't committed fraud, data manipulation etc... all the things that Mark Steyn loudly claim he did, and keep spreading out on the media everywhere he can, in book form, in interviews etc... should he just sit down and shut up?

I was under the impression that almost all of what Mr. Steyn has said has been in response to, not prior to, the suit Dr. Mann filed after Steyn wrote a column containing criticism of him.

Isn't bullying someone into submission and silence by a smear campaign kinda gross? Isn't it okay to stand up and actually say no to that?

Well, that's what Mr. Steyn is trying to do - stand up to someone attempting to bully him into silence.
