The guy can't help himself. Turns out that just before going to prison Hovind transferred all his assets (claimed to be over $2 million) to the Ministry run by his son Eric for $6300 as a possibly illegal shelter from the Government. Now that Hovind is out of the clink he wants it back but Eric isn't willing to give it up. Looks like both sides are lawyering up. This has interesting tax implications because Hovind still owes the Government $3.3 million in back taxes and fines from his first conviction. If he somehow gets his stuff back look for the Feds to swoop in. Also interesting is that Hovind's wife Jo has divorced him and sided with Eric in the family feud.
