Deeper Waters Forum Guidelines

Notice The ministries featured in this section of TheologyWeb are guests of this site and in some cases not bargaining for the rough and tumble world of debate forums, though sometimes they are. Additionally, this area is frequented and highlighted for guests who also very often are not acclimated to debate fora. As such, the rules of conduct here will be more strict than in the general forum. This will be something within the discretion of the Moderators and the Ministry Representative, but we simply ask that you conduct yourselves in a manner considerate of the fact that these ministries are our invited guests. You can always feel free to start a related thread in general forum without such extra restrictions. Thank you.

Deeper Waters is founded on the belief that the Christian community has long been in the shallow end of Christianity while there are treasures of the deep waiting to be discovered. Too many in the shallow end are not prepared when they go out beyond those waters and are quickly devoured by sharks. We wish to aid Christians to equip them to navigate the deeper waters of the ocean of truth and come up with treasure in the end.

We also wish to give special aid to those often neglected, that is, the disabled community. This is especially so since our founders are both on the autism spectrum and have a special desire to reach those on that spectrum. While they are a special emphasis, we seek to help others with any disability realize that God can use them and that they are as the Psalmist says, fearfully and wonderfully made.

That guy seems to do pretty good, without one.

      • Meanwhile, we all wait on the edge of our seats for the psychoanalysis, the bold assertion of rationality, or the results of a Google search that Gary will bring forward in response.

Unfortunately, none of those will resemble actual responses to the issues or actual personal research.

You just don't know how to study and have an emotional reaction.
Your holy book commands you not to bear false witness (lie) against your neighbor (that would even include atheists). You have said that I ignore expert opinion. Once again, show me where I have defied the consensus position of the overwhelming majority of scholars on ANY issue. If you can't do that, apologize. Just because I am not willing to go down every rabbit trail with you doesn't prove that I reject the position of the overwhelming majority of experts which is your accusation.

One does not have to be an expert on every issue to take a position regarding a particular religion's truth claims, especially when those truth claims are based on the supernatural.

Actually - the Bible defines a neighbour as one who wishes no ill upon others. Right now - you're either the scribe or the pharisee of the parable of the Good Samaritan - neither of whom were neighbours to the victim of robbery.

And - "woe to you, for you will yourself not enter in, but seek only to hinder those who would."
1Cor 15:34 Come to your senses as you ought and stop sinning; for I say to your shame, there are some who know not God.

Considering that you keep repeating the myth that the middle ages was 'the dark ages' and simply ignoring all expert views that say otherwise; Nick isn't 'bearing false witness' because it is here for all to see. The issue is that your bloated ego will not let you admit to being wrong about anything.

My mom used to say that it was better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt. You might want to take that advice.

Course not! Gary thinks that being a naturalist automatically makes him so much smarter than us! Because we believe in a powerful entity that created the universe and bothered to ensure a way we can spend eternity with said Being.

                Or something like that.

I think many moms say that. Who was the first parent to say that phrase?

IDK, I'm sure I'll be saying it someday too. It's advice that Gary should really look at taking since he doesn't seem to know anything about what he mindless rants about.

It's too late for him. Poor puny wittle mammalian specimen.

So are you going to assist in gathering the fire wood to burn me at the stake, Tabby?

By the way, do you have a link to the claim you made about Rev. Fisk?

True, since it appears he finds Christians songs 'send chills down the spine of every educated, rational person'. I think we should post some! Here's a version of O Holy Night that I found quite enjoyable to listen to:

Please give me a link to a reputable source who says that the overwhelming majority (on this issue, I will even accept the majority opinion) of historians believe that the Middle Ages were not the Dark Ages; that the Middle Ages were a time of great scientific advancements, aided and supported by the Church.

If you can do that, I will admit my error.

Why would we burn you at the stake? Waste of wood. And we aren't the Judge. We can't ban you from the internet forever.
