Apologetics 301 Guidelines

If you think this is the area where you tell everyone you are sorry for eating their lunch out of the fridge, it probably isn't the place for you

This forum is open discussion between atheists and all theists to defend and debate their views on religion or non-religion. Please respect that this is a Christian-owned forum and refrain from gratuitous blasphemy. VERY wide leeway is given in range of expression and allowable behavior as compared to other areas of the forum, and moderation is not overly involved unless necessary. Please keep this in mind. Atheists who wish to interact with theists in a way that does not seek to undermine theistic faith may participate in the World Religions Department. Non-debate question and answers and mild and less confrontational discussions can take place in General Theistics.

I've read about DNA but I've never been introduced to it. All my knowledge of DNA comes from people claiming to have some authoritative knowledge of its existence and its application.

Have you ever seen DNA? How did you know it was DNA?

There are some striking similarities between science and religion. The vast majority of adherents to either system trust authority.

People believe the bible to be trustworthy because they trust those in authority.

People believe the theory of evolution to be true because they trust in those in authority.

That's fine by me, whatevs ... But for the love of Pete, just admit it.
Evolution is no more a religion than Intelligent Design is science, i.e. not at all.

That sure sounds a lot like a statement of faith. Pretty similar to what most religions have. I'm imagining a Sunday school class full of jr scientists dutifully memorizing and reciting it.

That reminds me, I really, really need to visit Trout again.
Actually YOU put Trump in the White House. He wouldn't have gotten 1% of the vote if it wasn't for the widespread spiritual and cultural devastation caused by progressive policies. There's no "this country" left with your immigration policies, your "allies" are worthless and even more suicidal than you are and democracy is a sick joke that I hope nobody ever thinks about repeating when the current order collapses. - Darth_Executor striking a conciliatory note in Civics 101

When I'm teaching it, I never forget to tell them about the hated Isle of Wilberforce, where they'll be spending eternity if they don't measure up.

To the tune of a hickory stick I'm sure. Or the sword of Damocles in your case; the overarching threat of counting varves backwards to 15 billion.

                      Bang ... semi-colon baby.

Excellent. Now we can work backwards to put you on the straight and narrow on the use of commas, and how they can avoid making adjectives out of nouns.

You know it would probably be helpful if the people in this thread defined what they meant by 'religion,' 'evolution,' and 'science.' Otherwise, I predict a lot of talking past each other. Just sayin'.

Not faith, please refer to your standard definitions of what is defined as faith, and come back with something reasonable that is communicated in English.
