Apologetics 301 Guidelines

If you think this is the area where you tell everyone you are sorry for eating their lunch out of the fridge, it probably isn't the place for you

This forum is open discussion between atheists and all theists to defend and debate their views on religion or non-religion. Please respect that this is a Christian-owned forum and refrain from gratuitous blasphemy. VERY wide leeway is given in range of expression and allowable behavior as compared to other areas of the forum, and moderation is not overly involved unless necessary. Please keep this in mind. Atheists who wish to interact with theists in a way that does not seek to undermine theistic faith may participate in the World Religions Department. Non-debate question and answers and mild and less confrontational discussions can take place in General Theistics.

  • A modest proposal... Atheism is/is not a worldview.

Granted, I have been busy, and therefore my NOMA thread was orphaned--and it looked like it was dead anyway.

But, dear friends, perhaps we could prevent the "Atheism is/is not a world view" fungus from growing in every thread.

    I propose three things:

    1. First, Christians and other theists can stop trolling the Atheists at every step.
    2. Second, Atheists can stop barking at the dog whistle.
    3. Third, use this thread as the official Atheism is/is not a world view. Quarrantine, if you will.

There is far less suggestion of baby-eating than the thread title led me to believe would be here...

Didn't you atheists give up baby-eating for Lent?

Only on Fridays. Obviously, Saturn's day requires the appropriate amount of baby-eating, year round.

Atheism is the cult of death, the death of hope. The universe is doomed, you are doomed, the only thing that remains is to await your execution...

Indeed, though it's Goya's famous portrayal of Saturn eating his own son. I saw it myself when I was in Madrid several years back.

A worldview can be atheistic, but atheism itself isn't a worldview.

You need more to hang your hat on than simply the belief that God doesn't exist.

Atheism itself is not a worldview. That's clear to most of the sensible atheist's, and was clear to me when I was an atheist. You have all sorts of groups that tend to be atheistic, you've got the "original" four horseman (Dawkins, Dennet, Hitchens and Harris) brandTM atheism. This later fed into various other groups. Most of the latest generation of feminists are atheists of one type or another. You have the Atheism+ movement. You have Humanists. Pearlists. Nihilistic trolls hanging around 4chan, 7chan, 8chan, 420chan... You have anarcho-libertarian objectivist atheists, who frankly don't seem that different from their Christian counterpart, except they like porn.

In the end you have all sorts of groups with intersectional goals for what they want in society, though the various groups themselves have little in common politically. I happen to know that feministic atheists tend to distance themselves far from the rhetoric of say Dawkins.

The Christian anarcho-libertarian objectivists like porn but the anarcho-libertarian objectivist atheists don't?

You got the wrong order, though it was a long sentence.
