Eschatology 201 Guidelines
This area of the forum is primarily for Christian theists to discuss orthodox views of Eschatology. Other theist participation is welcome within that framework, but only within orthodoxy. Posts from nontheists that do not promote atheism or seek to undermine the faith of others will be permitted at the Moderator's discretion - such posters should contact the area moderators before posting.
Without turning this forum into a 'hill of foreskins' (Joshua 5:3), I believe we can still have fun with this 'sensitive' topic.
However, don't be misled, dispensationalism has only partly to do with circumcision issues. So, let's not forget about Innocence, Conscience, Promises, Kingdoms and so on.
End time -isms within orthodox Christianity also discussed here. Clearly unorthodox doctrines, such as those advocating "pantelism/full preterism/Neo-Hymenaeanism" or the denial of any essential of the historic Christian faith are not permitted in this section but can be discussed in Comparative Religions 101 without restriction. Any such threads, as well as any that within the moderator's discretions fall outside mainstream evangelical belief, will be moved to the appropriate area.
Millennialism- post-, pre- a-
Futurism, Historicism, Idealism, and Preterism, or just your garden variety Zionism.
From the tribulation to the anichrist. Whether your tastes run from Gary DeMar to Tim LaHaye or anywhere in between, your input is welcome here.
OK folks, let's roll!

People who treat secondary doctrines like primary doctrines are generally wrong. What's that quote about unity in the primary doctrines and diversity in the secondary doctrines? If holders of a certain view are arrogant about it, that drives me to other views that are more humble and do research on the historical context and don't assume the Bible was written yesterday in English in a innocence-guilt culture. I understood that the Bible was written a long time ago and in a different culture even as a child. Even basic reading comprehension can help prevent misinterpretation of Scripture. And the Psalmist is making fun of the bad guys. They are as effectual as the guys that just exist to get clobbered by the hero in the beginning of a story. If it weren't for the Resurrection of Jesus, we'd all be in DEEP TROUBLE!

Or my favorite version -- The main thing is that we make the main thing the main thing. The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.

Mark well what I tell you. The disagreement I have with so many here is not about "secondary issues." It is the overarching problem of choosing one's beliefs based on what one is comfortable with rather than what is true. That is the primary divide among all of creation. Satan was not comfortable not being the center of attention and started all of this. His children are liars, too, whether consciously, subconsciously or unconsciously, ranging from rationalizing to outright deception. We have no record of "men's hearts failing them for fear" when the Romans laid siege to Jerusalem. Such a siege would not mark a unique time in history, either, "more terrible than any time before or since." Many cities have been sieged. Jesus was not some ignorant backwoods rabbi using hyperbole to make a point. He was God in the flesh using the exact right words to convey what He meant.
Anyone who says "the main thing" that makes them or anyone a Christian is words spewing out of their mouths, rather than "truth in the inward parts" and a faith in Christ which consumes and transforms them into truth seeking, truth doing and truth loving kings and queens is a charlatan, a fool and a threat.
But maybe He was "just talking to the Jews."

I recommend you do not try too hard and ...research as little as possible. Such weighty things give me a headache. - Shunyadragon, Baha'i apologist

"Seal up the scroll until the time of the end." It's not a coincidence that God chose the word "conspiracy." In fact, if you truly believed in God, you'd know there is no such thing as coincidences.

If that were your dispute, you wouldn't find many here disagreeing with you.
Here again, actually knowing the Bible would have saved the day for you.

How does one manage to get "not comfortable being the center of attention" from "Your heart became proud"?

Have some hymns!
Any more hymns dealing with the sovereignty of God or that He is our Protector? In an eternal sense anyway. He isn't going to miraculously save you from every bad guy you encounter, so we should still be aware of our surroundings. But I don't need to fear any stinkin' fallen angels! Because I am an adopted child of God! That's much better than being a superhero sidekick or something. Yes, I'm saying being a Christian is cooler than all of the wish fulfillment in all the comics, books, movies, tv shows, and any other stories you can imagine. Even if scary and sad stuff happens, it is only temporary. One day, we shall leave the school of hard knocks and live happily ever after in a glorious new creation! I don't claim to know what will happen in between, but I will let God "worry" about that!Last edited by Christianbookworm; 06-25-2019, 03:56 PM.If it weren't for the Resurrection of Jesus, we'd all be in DEEP TROUBLE!
