Its just when I read about government leaders, my mind goes to 2nd Chronicles which keeps describing how the people were godly when the king is godly and not when the king isn't. I just don't want to see the spiritual life of the US dependent on who is in the White House.
Somewhat tongue-in-cheek -- who needs repenting more than politicians? The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.

A Holy Ghost revival is certainly not dependent on who is in the White House. It's weird to me that you would think along those lines. Your reference to 2nd Chronicles is interesting, because in the oft cited 'revival verse' (7:14) it's simply "my people, which are called by my name", without respect to their employment -- and the emphasis is on the humbling themselves and praying, and seeking God's face and repenting....

Regarding 2 Chronicles 7:14: I lean towards the position that the verse is being decontextualized when its applied to today."For I desire mercy, not sacrifice, and acknowledgment of God rather than burnt offerings." Hosea 6:6
