Ok, that was the first week....
The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.

I don't think his sister's barbie doll counts as a "girlfriend"

I was paid great sums of licorice never to discuss that again.

We had a very simple wedding. There were 8 people altogether, including the pastor and his wife. And I do not regret it for one minute of the nearly 43 years we have been married. I look at the lavish weddings nowadays and just cannot think how the money and stress involved can be justified.

My husband didn't really care what we did. We were more focused on the actual marriage than the wedding.

Although we didn't kiss -- or dance.

I'm a shut-in, the chances of me ever meeting a prospective wife is so slim that I don't even bother thinking about what type of wedding I could endure.

Exactly! I can't believe how many people spend such huge amounts of time and money on one ceremony. Now they are even elevating the marriage proposal to extravagant heights.

For us, both of our mothers gave us a proposal. We could either have 1) a large wedding or 2) a small wedding and a large down payment. For us, it was a no-brainer.

Because EVERYTHING is going to be WAY overpriced -- a cake can't really cost that much - it's just CAKE! And a photographer? Every KID has a cell phone with better resolution than a lot of professional cameras.... and "consultants"?

Yeah, it's unbelievable to me how much some people will pay incredibly high prices for services that would be much less if it wasn't "a wedding".

Yeah, and don't go to a "honeymoon destination" that will cost an arm and a leg - go to a place you'd really like to visit even if you weren't getting married!

                            Why are you shut in?
Atheism is the cult of death, the death of hope. The universe is doomed, you are doomed, the only thing that remains is to await your execution...

A shut-in hasn't been shut in - it's not anti-social, and not agoraphobic - but it does have elements of both.

Because I don't like interacting with people face to face, or even being out in public, without interacting with anyone. It's no problem when I'm amongst people I know already, but being amongst people I haven't spent considerable amount of time with makes me uncomfortable.

To clarify: I'm not afraid of it, I just don't like it.
