On Christmas, my in-laws were watching the movie A Christmas Story. At the end, a group of Chinese are trying to sing "Deck The Halls" without mixing their "L"s and "R"s. I thought "This movie needs to be banned! It is making fun of Chinese and hurting their feelings!"

Not really. I actually thought "This would not be included in a movie made today."

I was just thinking, it's too bad abbreviations have negative connotations when it comes to ethnicity. Jap instead of Japanese, Chink (or Chin) instead of Chinese, Kraut instead of German, Yank instead of American ... they would all make language simpler. Instead, the Language Police have us hyphenating everyone. Like, I am a "Native-American-Of-Mixed-European-Descent-Who-Might-Commonly-Be-Called-A-Caucasion" (though my ancestors are not from the Caucus region).
