It's all about me, even if he has to make crap up. Sort of like he'd interrupt Gold Star parents to talk about how his son was killed while serving in Iraq (he actually died several years later of brain cancer). Reports from the fire department says it was a small kitchen fire that was put out quickly. Old Joe's house didn't nearly burn down. "Dr." Jill wasn't nearly killed. Nor did two firemen nearly die putting it out. This is just crap he keeps making up.
While there old Joe forgot the name of the island (Maui), kept butchering the names of local officials and kept joking about how hot the ground was. No wonder residents were chanting the original much cruder form of LGB when he finally arrived (after first taking a vacation) nearly two weeks later.
