Zym bro,

I listened to the Skald In Veum EP, and sorry to say I just couldn't really get into it. I really didn't hear anything that would set it apart from everyday black metal. Am I missing something in their sound?

No, you're not missing anything with Skald; that was kind of a shot in the dark. I understand.

I was also able to listen to the Evroklidon album. This might sound odd, but I actually liked it so much more than Skald In Veum. Devilish Beast in The Eternal Fire is so interesting to listen to. It's as if Vengeance Rising decided to play doom. I really enjoyed that mix. I think my favorite track has to be Legends of Old men - Wisdom of Ancient. It scorches . The title track is wonderful as well. I can definitely see why this album is your favorite. It's much more varied than I was expecting. Overall I thought it was excellent. Am I correct in saying this is the only album they came out with? Because I can't find any info about other releases.

That's awesome about Evroklidon. I can always come back to that album. That is in fact their only album, but I've heard rumors that they're working on a new one. Nothing confirmed, though....

Next to thrash, that is where my extreme tastes usually lead me. I have found that it is starting to get very derivative though. Am I becoming so old that I am starting think the best music is behind us? Never thought I would see the day.

As I'm writing this, I'm still blasting Evroklidon. It's good.

Oddly enough, thrash is the only genre of metal that I don't really care for. If I want heaviness and aggression, I'll just listen to death metal. If I want something less aggressive than that, I'll usually play power metal or something. Thrash occupies a weird middle ground that doesn't do anything for me. Bolt Thrower is one of my go-tos for death metal:

Call of the Wretched Sea and Paramaecium's Exhumed of the Earth), but most funeral doom is boring to me. I think I'm still trying to decide how much I like black metal, and while I prefer my death metal old-school and more traditional, some of the major classic bands don't do much of anything for me (e.g., Death).
