Technically, so did The Car - but since I laughed through 90% of that movie, this might not be a good thing.

That's part of it, obviously. The first Alien looks like some lanky guy in a monster suit when you put him in a spotlight, but of course, things are just naturally scarier in the dark. That why this new trope of getting a scare in broad daylight is sort of interesting, though it's now getting overplayed, and I'm always anticipating it. Last time I saw it used a bunch was in the Annabelle sequel.

Jeez, I haven't seen that film in like, 25 years or something.

Snickering and guffawing through most horror movies is not a good sign.

It's older than that - I was a kid when it came out.

And it is movies like that which is why I was sure to add "most."

Loved the first one, the rest much, much less so.

Did you ever watch the TV series?

Gremlins also probably fits in this category.

Troll 2, obviously. That movie really is just as amazing/terrible (both simultaneously) as it's reputed to be.

Oh, I know it is. It was released in the 70s or early 80s or something (right when all of those horror spoofs were popular), but the last time I've seen it (on VHS) was some time in the early 90s.

No, I didn't. And I agree about Gremlins.

I thought it was actually pretty good.

Gremlins was good, but Gremlins 2 was pretty bad.
