Let's hope Belgium does not become the new Nebraska.
i vaguely do remember that. Awful. Did they fix that loophole?

Guess some think it's perfectly okay to put humans to sleep like your pet dog.

Of course not! We should keep them on machines, never let them go, keep holding them to dear life because of a book! Whether or not everybody believes in that book, oh, that's of no consequence!

Nobody is claiming that! There is a difference between passive and active euthanasia. It's one thing to take someone off a vent to let them die. It's another thing to give them a fatal injection to put them out when there are other options.

Who gets to decide who suffering unbearable pain and who's pain is bearable? What level of pain do you have to live with before you are able to die? Does it have to be physical pain or can mental anguish apply? People with disabilities have already been successfully euthanize. Why are we just stopping at terminal illness with children. We already have children committing suicide because of bullying and abuse. Do we have the right say to them that their pain is bearable? What about the mentally handicapped?

Euthanasia puts us down the path that if you are not perfect or are lacking in some form of function your life is worthless. Instead of helping people overcome their illness or handicaps we give up on them. We no longer need to invest in giving people back their dignity through compassion, assistance and understanding that you don't have to be physically able to do everything so your life for it to still has meaning.

We already have numerous cases of euthanasia being done without the patients consent or without that the proper procedure being done. The safeguards are slowly being eroded. The question we will soon face is when does your right to die interfere with my right to live.

It's yet another to do it without their consent.

Indeed. Though, I'm against suicide. Hospice care can take care of the pain.

                  There is no difference.

to put them out when there are other options.
They're not talking cases where there are other options. They're talking about people who are dying, and who want to choose the time and manner of their death.

Yeah, I know, then you bring up the case of the twins who wanted to die because they were blind. Do you know what they went through?

What do you, ANY of you, know about another person's pain?

We treat dogs and cats better than we treat the terminally ill.

It's just... where would you draw the line from a mercy kill to unjustified killing?

                      1. Patient's choice
                      2. If the patient is incompetent, patient's guardian (spouse, parents, next-of-kin)
                      3. If the patient has no next-of-kin, guardian ad litem.
                      4. All cases reviewed by medical review board before euthanasia.
                      5. Only for incurable conditions
                      6. If the condition itself is not terminal, mandatory psych evaluation

What makes you think hospice is any different? Look up the Liverpool Care Pathway.

I just don't want to be killed for not having perfect hearing and vision.

Why are you ignoring the many cases where euthanasia is done without consent?

It was their choice, not some doctor.
