I think it can be handled in two ways.

The government gives them what they want (in that "autonomous" zone) - They could put up walls and a gate and say anyone who goes in is on their own and wait for them to self-destruct.. At which time the liberals will whine about how the government didn't do their job and protect the citizens.

Or, the government can play hard-ball and send in troops to arrest everyone associated with this idiocy and anyone who remains in the area after being warned to leave. At which time the liberals will whine about how the government is violating their rights and is racist.

But I think a visible show of force and consequences like in #2 could discourage anyone else from trying it and could restore order.

#1 though has the potential to show people why such ideas are stupid.

If they had any power then yes they would. However they don't seem to be commanding companies to virtue signal and getting people fired for disagreement with their beliefs.

Both are owned/controlled by Republicans, headed by the Trump Administration. If they allowed "far left commies" to take control of Capitol Hill, then they suck at their jobs.

Another way it could come across as Democrat-led cities being unwilling and unable to protect their citizens.

Except, of course, that Trump has made it clear he runs things in DC.
