Here, you make the same argument that Sparko has made before -- and the same mistake -- the ability to suffer is distinct from the capacity to suffer or to process sensation, the capacity to exhibit consciousness and not the exhibition of consciousness.
And, yes, we routinely "pull the plug" on people in vegetative states with no apparent higher brain activity, even knowing that a small fraction of them may miraculously recover. We do not consider it murder. That's informative.
