Dogs have owners.
Cats have staff. The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.

From the video in the OP:
AOC: Is there any hard limit that I have in terms of what legislation I'm allowed...to touch? Are there any limits on the laws that I can write or influence...?
A: There's no limits.
As if they've never heard of the Constitution!
When I hear it said that there is a problem with money spent publishing political messages, my thought isn't that speech/publishing should be limited. Rather, it's that the government is too big and powerful. If politicians weren't able to dish out special favors, then people wouldn't spend money trying to get special favors. Neither would a politician be able to give special favors to the company that he owns shares in.
(Aside: AOC's example on that was, as I understand it, not the norm. Typically big players in an industry ask not for deregulation, but for regulation (or more regulation), to benefit themselves at the expense of their competition or the consumers. The existing regulatory state is primarily that. Again, the problem is that legislatures have the power to do such things.)
At the U.S. federal level, enforcing the limits of the Constitution would do most of the work. Domestic economic legislation would be limited to interstate commerce, and to the original intent of preventing states from restricting trade across state lines.

Also I think people exaggerate the ability of big money to dictate what people think. Carpe said a big spender could "swing the tide of elections to their desires." During the last Republican primary, I recall that the big campaign spending was for Jeb Bush. And all that money wasn't able to make people like Jeb, let alone to defeat Trump.
