  • The little darling was the ONLY House Democrat to vote NO on reopening the government...

Ocasio-Cortez is lone Democrat to vote against bill to reopen government because it funded ICE

Being the LONE vote, that last paragraph still refers to "our votes", We", "our community".

    She's cute.

    • UGH. No we need ICE. I may not like how ICE operates sometimes and I don't want a wall but we need them.

      • White House spokesperson Sarah Hucksterbee weighed in on behalf of the White House with regard to AOC and her focus on climate change.

She said the White House plan for the issue of climate change is to "leave [it] into the hands of a much, much higher authority" and rather than addressing it they "will leave up into the hands of something and someone much more powerful than any of us." (!!!)

Since when has leaving it to God been considered a valid political response to a political issue? (And particularly one that literally everyone other country has signed an international treaty to deal with) What would people say if the White House announced it was leaving the nation's healthcare up to God, or the Iran deal up to God, or leaving the nation's finances in God's hands? Or said they weren't going to bother with any government and everything was just going to be left up to God?!

AOC has responded with a couple of tweets:

"I hate him passionately", he's "a demonic force" - Tucker Carlson, in private, on Donald Trump
"Every line of serious work that I have written since 1936 has been written, directly or indirectly, against totalitarianism and for democratic socialism" - George Orwell
"[Capitalism] as it exists today is, in my opinion, the real source of evils. I am convinced there is only one way to eliminate these grave evils, namely through the establishment of a socialist economy" - Albert Einstein

A lot of people seem under a misapprehension about ICE. ICE is quite different to Border Patrol, which is the agency that enforces border security - neither AOC nor other liberals are advocating for a removal of border patrol or of border security in general.

ICE is a different agency that was created in 2003 as part of the post-9/11 anti-terrorism security-state. It does not patrol the borders. Rather it performs an awkwardly dual role of anti-terrorism activities with regard to immigrants, and of deportations of illegal immigrants. In its short lifespan this agency has had a very checkered history, has had a tendency to terrorize legal immigrant communities, and not detected or stopped any terrorism. Those advocating its abolition back into its pre-2003 pieces are seeking a roll-back of the post-9/11 surveillance state, a removal of excessive powers granted in the post-9/11 environment, and a reduction in the way legal immigrants are terrorized by the agency responsible for deporting illegal immigrants.

So you finally admit that "climate change" is a political issue?

Yeah, I'm getting to where I'm having to force myself to maintain my "she's cute" campaign.

One thing is becoming increasingly evident -- she is punching WAY above her weight.

Well her own kind are turning against her. Feeding frenzy. She will have no friends on capital hill and no clout.

She is blinded by her own perceived celebrity and is incredibly short-sighted.

This is another situation in which the question "what is the object of this exercise" would be valuable. Is the object of the exercise to hear her cheering fans praise her, or is it to actually get something accomplished? Obviously, the former.

She is a classic example of sacrificing the ultimate on the altar of the immediate.
