Yes because misrepresenting yourself for decades is totally no big deal.

As the singular naughty swine pointed out to you the fact she has about half the Native American DNA as does the average white American has been documented several times in this thread. Ms. 1/1024% Native American is among the whitest of the white.

She also plagiarized recipes that she submitted as old "family recipes" to the "Pow Wow Chow: A Collection of Recipes from Families of the Five Civilized Tribes : Cherokee, Chickasaw, Choctaw, Creek and Seminole" cookbook. She might be only 1/1024% Native American but she's 100% fraud

        False.

Source: After new document is revealed, Warren struggles with questions of identity

Several months after Warren started working at Harvard Law School in late 1995, Harvard recorded her ethnicity as Native American, according to university records reported by the Globe. The records include a memo showing that Warren signed off on the change.

False. This is from earlier in the thread:

That "family lore" apparently includes claims (lies?) by her parents that her racist grandparents forced her father and mother to elope because they didn't approve of her father marrying a woman of Cherokee descent. However, public records show that her extended family is white and suggest that her parents had a traditional wedding ceremony in a Methodist church.

So not only do official public records and genealogies not support Warren's claims, but now we have scientific proof that at best, she's no more Indian than the average white American of European descent, and in fact, she's likely even whiter than that. In other words, Jimmy, it's entirely possible that you have more Indian DNA in your blood than Warren does.

Curiously, it seems that Warren's family history does intersect with the Cherokee Nation when one of her ancestors participated in the Trail of Tears, not as an Indian but as one of their captors!

        • And now we have the Texas bar registration form from 1986 in which she declared her ethnicity to be "Native American". That's a lot stronger than saying that she had a possibly Native American ancestor who lived 200-years ago.

And in the infamous "Pow Wow Chow" cookbook, she called herself Cherokee.

It's certainly WAY beyond a statement like "Because I am 1/32 Cherokee, I meet the requirements for...."

Not only did she not object, but school records show that she explicitly approved.

Agreed! I seems that Senator Warren will be damned by Trump supporters via the standard Trumpian-style selective facts, innuendo and misrepresentations, whatever she says or does.

Well, when she claims to be an American Indian, and is clearly not....

She believes she is, her family lore is that she is. It's understandable that family traditions play an important part in her life as it does for all of us. It's obvious that she did not embark on a cynical course of deliberate untruths for self-advancement.

No. No she doesn't. If she does, she doesn't deserve to be a public servant because she's too stupid. She obviously thought she could get away with making the goofy claim.

her family lore is that she is.
So? Family lore doesn't make fact, Tass - surely you can grasp that.

Well, I guess if you stand on one foot, squint really hard, and are incredibly gullible you might come to that conclusion, but then there are the FACTS, so....

She had to know something was up years ago when every attempt to independently verify her claims came up empty, and when she plagiarized recipes word for word from other sources for the infamous "Pow Wow Chow" cookbook and claimed they were old Cherokee recipes handed down by her family.

This is a tempest in a teapot. I listened to a podcast about this issue from the perspective of a spokesperson for the tribes that live in the area where Warren grew up. She had an interesting observation. She noted that this "claim of native blood" is commonplace to that area. It is handed down generation to generation, and is seen as a point of pride, even when there is no formal membership to a particular tribe. It has essentially become a cultural/family thing that probably would not be understood outside the local area where it happens. She noted that the local tribes don't take it seriously and don't take offense at it.

What the local tribes DID take offense at was Warren's attempt to prove her heritage with a blood test. She noted that membership to a tribe is a formal process with formal requirements, and a blood test is not going to do it. They found her attempt to do so offensive, which is what she apologized for.

I find myself in a similar situation. For years I told anyone who asked that I was of 100% french descent on both sides of my family, because that is what my parents told me and their parents told them, and so on up the tree. Modern abilities to trace family trees and do genetic testing shows that I'm a mutt - with a significant amount of mixture in the gene pool. I never questioned the "100% french" claim - but it would not pass the sniff test. I'm sure Trump would call me a liar too.

Basically, Trump has found a minor "chink in the armor" and is leveraging it for all it's worth. For myself, if the people most impacted are shrugging their shoulders, so am I.
