It's like the post-modern world wants to replace the paterfamilias with the materfamilias.

Perhaps women who choose to abort their pregnancy don't see it like you, i.e as killing their children. A fetus does not aquire consciousness until somewhere around 5-6 months in and if it is not a conscious life form then abortion is a question for which women can make their own decisions.

That's just a stage of maturation of an individual. Human life is a complex interaction of co-dependent systems, to INCLUDE consciousness. If you have your head cut off and the other systems are not available to keep the consciousness going, you die. If your heart gets ripped out, you lose a system and you die. But development and maturation are not the same at the end as they are in the beginning. The human organism survives and matures even before the brain stem forms, even before the heart, kidneys, liver, etc form. Consciousness is just another maturity stage that in no way changes the biological uniqueness of the individual.

Your point seems to be that with the loss of consciousness you are going to die, meaning you will not be a living human being.
