1. It is already a federal law to get background checks to get a gun. Where have you been? I had to go through a background check to get my handgun license and another one when I actually bought my gun. And I will have to get another one for every gun I buy. Federal law.

I think he misread one of the notes in his "Liberal Talking Points for Idiots". He may have been thinking about the "gun show loophole", which is actually misnamed, as many (most?) sellers at gun shows are federally licensed, and are therefore required to do background checks.
