To be fair, those costs do cover medical professionals, guards, teachers etc. It's not just the cost of a room like you'd be paying for in a motel."I hate him passionately", he's "a demonic force" - Tucker Carlson, in private, on Donald Trump

When it comes to fact checks, it's a bit harder. If the fact check is associated with a publican, the leaning of that publication rules and the same process can be used. If the fact check is independent, then the only real avenue available is to spot-check their reporting and look for left/right key words. I also look at the various ranking sites (allsides, MBFC) to see if they are consistently ranking them.
I recognize that many of you on the right are in the "trust no one" mode, except your own selected media outlets, of course. I am not. I trust most media outlets (in the window I listed above) to report accurately and correct their reporting when they get it wrong. The closer to the center, the more I trust. The closer to Fox and CNN, the more I trust-but-verify.Last edited by carpedm9587; 06-22-2018, 07:43 AM.The ultimate weakness of violence is that it is a descending spiral begetting the very thing it seeks to destroy...returning violence for violence multiplies violence, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. I stated my solution in the very second post of this thread: people show up at the border trying to enter the country illegally; you turn them around and send them back home. I read another solution elsewhere that the US should stop taking any asylum requests at the border and that this should be handled by the embassies in each country. Show up at the border and ask for asylum? Sorry, we don't do that here. Go back to your embassy. This way, they can remain in their homes as a family while their claim is being processed.Last edited by Mountain Man; 06-22-2018, 08:48 AM.Some may call me foolish, and some may call me odd

Some people have drawn upon them the responsibility of separating children from their parents in worst case forever. They have no doubt in any case caused extreme psychological pain.
Anyone only looking at the law in this context is halfway blind at best.
