I wonder what the left will do here if/when Trump wins?

France: Right-Wing Crushing Victory in Parliamentary Elections in RECORD TURNOUT, Leftists, Muslims Riot and Burn

Protesters clashed with police in central Paris as demonstrations were held against Marine Le Pen’s far-right National Rally (RN), which jumped into an early lead in France’s snap election.

Thousands of people gathered in the Place de la Republique as first-round legislative elections on Sunday plunged the country into political uncertainty.

C'monman! Rioting over election results is a healthy response when the left does it. True story.

I'm always still in trouble again

The text in the OP is not from the source linked (MSN), but from the Geller report. That may be why it reports a 'crushing victory' in an election that hasn't even finished yet.

seer has some explaining to do.

So? The first round was great victory, and leftists are losing their poop - they are being violent - again!

And yet the left is already rioting over the results.

And Macron is one of the top globalists she knocked down in the G7, probably second only to Ursula.

Except the far left did pretty well in this election also. The "far right" (National Rally plus the so-called "Union of the far-right") got 33.15% of hte total vote, but New Popular Front (a collection of far left parties, including the French Communist Party) got 28.14%. The loser was Macron's group, the centirst Ensemble, at 21.27%.

But those percentages strictly speaking don't mean much, not any more than a total party percentage of votes for the House of Representatives matters for who actually is in the House of Representatives, because it's all done by district. Further, France has a bit of an odd runoff system. France's election system, as I understand it, is that you have a district-based system (like the US) where you have candidates running in each district. In France, if someone wins a majority in the first round, they win and that's it. If no one does (which is the case in most districts), they have a runoff election for that district a week later in which only the top two candidates plus any candidates who got 12.5% or higher are on the ballot, which means in some cases you actually have 3 or even 4-candidate runoffs (note that in practice a lot of times districts end up with 3 or 4, someone will withdraw to try to avoid splitting the vote). Whoever gets the most votes in each district in the runoff election wins. Because each district is going to play out differently, and it's made even more complicated by the multiple candidates, it's very hard to know what the results will actually be.

However, as noted if someone got a majority in their district, they advance, so we do know some about the winners. National Rally picked up 37 seats, New Popular Front got 32, and Ensemble got 2 (there were a few more seats filled by other parties but none of the others got more than 1 so far). So that is good for National Rally, but also pretty strong for New Popular Front. Ensemble got barely anything, though. However, we must recall that there are a total of 577 seats, so this represents only a small faction of them.

So the bottom line right now is that it really is too early to try to call the election. And before people talk too much about how the far right is winning, note that the far left seems just only a little behind them.

In France there tends to be rioting about politics on any day that ends in Y. So I wouldn't particularly try to read anything much into that.

Here's a picture from France... from last year. Within the last several years they've had major different protests on the topics of: Pensions; Against same-sex marriage; Climate Change; Fuel taxes, etc.

I note the picture's firey but mostly peaceful. I know that's triggering to some posters here who refuse to believe it's possible for protests to be like that, and who foolishly use the phrase to insist the media must have been lying about the BLM protests when they described it that way.

While I would generally agree, the Left's reaction to any kind of loss is delegitimization.

France and America are different. Federal buildings in Portland had $2mil in damaged. An estimated $2.3b in property damage occurred. Minnesota has 154 structure fires caused by arson. Protestors even threatened White House grounds and several Secret Service members were injured in May 2020.

The phrase literally comes from a CNN banner description, per the Hill:

CNN ridiculed for ‘Fiery But Mostly Peaceful’ caption with video of burning building in Kenosha
