The sentencing is likely to be completely anticlimactic. I seriously doubt that Trump will be incarcerated.

Though I'll allow that he could force the judge's hand, if he really wants to.

How could he force his hand? Besides, this may be the Dem's last chance to stop Trump...

By being unapologetic for his actions, continuing to claim the trial was rigged, and continuing to attack the judge and prosecutors. The judge may feel that he has no choice but to show Trump that there are consequences for his behavior.

Aside from the fact that Democrats have no say in the matter, incarcerating Trump is as likely to help his election chances as to hurt them.

Well then Trump is going to jail, because he sees it as a witch hunt...

Yeah, he probably thinks he has done nothing wrong.

Any rational person knows there was a legal slight of hand that turned misdemeanors into felonies. I any case the people will decide in November.

While I would like to see white collar criminals in general get more serious penalties than they do... unfortunately they have a tendency to just get slapped on the wrist. So I find it hard to see Trump going to jail for his crimes, even though I think he should.
"I hate him passionately", he's "a demonic force" - Tucker Carlson, in private, on Donald Trump

"[Capitalism] as it exists today is, in my opinion, the real source of evils. I am convinced there is only one way to eliminate these grave evils, namely through the establishment of a socialist economy" - Albert Einstein

It's a bit of a toss up. The charges against him feel VERY contrived. The felony upgrade to the law is rarely used in the absence of additional charges, and the fact that Bragg created a series of russian dolls that each require a predicating crime, make this look very much like it was a politically motivated charging.

It was pretty evident they were going to throw Trump in prison, and now it seems this is their only option. But I say that with a grain of salt now because my prediction skills have left me reeling with lack of confidence.

It's possible for the charges to be politically motivated AND for Trump to have done something wrong.

Personally, I think the motivation was less political, and more the result of Trump's long history of legally questionable behavior, and the feeling that there must be something illegal that he had done that they could prove beyond a reasonable doubt, mixed in with all the things they couldn't quite prove, or for which the statute of limitations had expired.

Your explanation describes a prosecutor looking for a crime to charge. Very much the feel of contrivance.
