From just a couple months ago...

A federal report published today found that Tesla’s Autopilot system was involved in at least 13 fatal crashes in which drivers misused the system in ways the automaker should have foreseen—and done more to prevent. Not only that, but the report called out Tesla as an “industry outlier” because its driver assistance features lacked some of the basic precautions taken by its competitors. Now regulators are questioning whether a Tesla Autopilot update designed to fix these basic design issues and prevent fatal incidents has gone far enough.

The watch the road and keep your hands on the wheel at all times is basically Auto manufacturers way of covering their butts legally. People are predictable, having to basically drive without actually driving is not easy, you will either stress yourself out or eventually get bored and your attention will wander. And the more you use it, the more you will get a feeling that it is infallible and start finding ways to cheat so you can take your hands off. That's when these accidents happen. But hey Tesla said you had to keep your hands on the wheel and watch the road ready to take over in a split second! Not their fault, Nossiree!

But it only costs $99 a month - $1,200 a year --- $6,000 if you keep it for 5 years!!!

Doesn't Tesla's version only work on highways, not for street driving, right?

My granddaughter demo'd it to us on a street going back to a local airport.

Yes, I saw you defending Alex Jones in your post and then posted "You posting about the correctness of Alex Jones is pretty much peak TWeb."

That was literally a one line joke, and it apparently had you so triggered you went on an irrelevant tear about UC Berkeley which wasn't the topic of the joke.

                ...and asked:

Perhaps you missed the point of that post also.

I support government regulation. I'm a left-winger. I support the government doing stuff.

You said UC Berkeley had determined atrazine exposure is bad. I, therefore, support government regulation of atrazine exposure. Because I trust UC Berkeley's findings on the subject - the exact opposite of your unhinged "throwing them under the bus" claim.

The thread was full of unhinged libertarians who were against government regulation. Hence my above post suggesting the government regulate to prevent atrazine exposure. Because I support such government regulation and knew the libertarian posters would be triggered by it.

Again, another one-line post that has apparently tormented you for a year...

Tesla's "autopilot" system seems to be fundamentally unsafe. Expert commentators seem to be of the opinion that Tesla will never have a working & safe system. Compared to other car companies they've handicapped themselves by having fewer types of sensors on the car. I would never ride in a car that had the Tesla autopilot system on because I would consider it too unsafe.

You claim to have been laughing at a one line post suggesting the government should regulate what we believe to be a dangerous chemical?

They appear to be working toward changing that, but I would also agree they have really handicapped themselves out of the gate.

I'm assuming by "autopilot system on", you're referring not just to the hardware and software installed on the vehicle, but enabled by the subscription that enables those features.
                        Yeah, not ready for primetime.

I've never laughed at the content of the post, merely the very bad attempt at misdirection after you so beautifully made my point.
