Biden’s Dept of Labor urges employers to help ‘menstruators thrive at work’

    menstruators.jpeg

The Biden administration's Department of Labor (DOL) urged employers to help "menstruaters" at work on Wednesday in a post. The DOL, under the leadership of Acting Secretary of Labor Julie Su, said that "#Menstruation affects half the U.S. workforce but talking about it at work can be taboo. For #MenstrualHygieneDay, here are 5 easy actions employers can take to help menstruators thrive at work." Menstruators, uterus-havers, cervix-owners, birthers, and other reproductive function or body part terms have been replacing the words "woman" or "mother" in documentation and rhetoric across the Biden administation to appease those who believe males and females can change their biological sex through sheer belief, medication, and surgery.

Critique of this rhetoric comes from many women who know for sure that this is not possible, yet language continues to be used to obliterate the concept of women and replace it with these other, biology-specific words and concepts.

The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.

    "Menstruators, uterus-havers, cervix-owners, birthers..."

No wonder they can't define what a woman is.

They've probably never heard the word.

I'm always still in trouble again

Just continuing the Liberal nonsense of being politically correct. You can't say "woman" because some "women" don't have uteruses.

I saw this article the other day about political correctness gone wild (from 2022)

      Source: https://www.lbc.co.uk/news/university-cancels-phrases-bury-hatchet-killing-two-birds-one-stone/

Mind your language: University cancels phrases 'bury the hatchet' and 'kill two birds with one stone' for 'causing harm'

Stanford University is doing away with the language it regards as sexist, ableist and potentially racist.

It comes as part of the university's "elimination of harmful language initiative", which has seen them engage with stakeholder groups for 18 months.

The guide highlights words that devalue "people who live with disabilities".

For example, a "blind study" has been changed to a "masked study" and someone cannot be described as "tone deaf" but instead "unenlightened".

Among the changes are 13 words and phrases considered "culturally appropriative", 30 terms deemed sexist and more than 30 terms reflecting "institutionalised racism".

"Killing two birds with one stone" was blacklisted for suggesting violence against animals and "bury the hatchet" was abandoned because it appropriates "a centuries-old tradition among some North American indigenous peoples".

Meanwhile, "rule of thumb" has been discarded as it references "an old British law that allowed men to beat their wives with sticks no wider than their thumb".

"Karen", used to ridicule a group of people, was also included, with alternate recommendations being "demanding" or "entitled white woman".

I never have liked the "Karen" thing, as I know several very good women who were named Karen at birth.

But, yeah, the left has gone stark raving mad.

I just saw a video of a dude explaining that you (other dudes) can "grow coconuts" (breasts) and with the proper hormones and chemicals, you can actually produce milk to feed your baby.

        Absolutely sick.

I mean....imagine being erased like that and simply referred to by a biological term instead...

So they used 'menstruator', which means some-one who is menstruating. What's the problem?*

Menstruators, uterus-havers, cervix-owners, birthers, and other reproductive function or body part terms have been replacing the words "woman" or "mother" in documentation and rhetoric across the Biden administation to appease those who believe males and females can change their biological sex through sheer belief, medication, and surgery.
So the supposed 'problem' is that the DoL wrote 'menstruators' rather than 'women'. But women aren't menstruators all the time, so using 'women' wouldn't work - it'd have to be 'women who are menstruating', which is unnecessarily wordy, especially since menstruating already implies they're referring to women. Their complaint is akin to complaining about some-one using 'aviatrix' instead of 'woman who flies a plane' or 'cowpoke' instead of 'man who herds cattle'.

Why did you post this crap?

*Apart from their inability to spell menstruator.

Why is it no surprise whatsoever that you would think this is a good thing?

Context there refers to women as menstruaters, regardless of the actual circumstances. The word is included with other words that are not dependent upon time of month, viz -
Menstruators, uterus-havers, cervix-owners, birthers. Two of those words are time dependent, two are permanent.

*Apart from their inability to spell menstruator.
The "or" suffix is masculine, "trix" is the feminine ending, "er" is gender independent. Don't know of any biologically male menstruaters.

I thought the "Karen" thing was amusing at first. But my son-in-law was showing me a bunch of videos depicting "Karens" (supposedly) and many of them were simply concerned neighbors getting involved.

One woman was asking why a strange car with suspicious characters inside was parked in front of her neighbor's house for some length of time. Perhaps she shouldn't have confronted the occupants, but I would appreciate a neighbor showing such concern for my property when my family and I are not at home.

There's a fine line there somewhere and I think the Leftists have crossed it and adopted the whole "Karen" idea.

The story about the width of sticks gives a supposed origin in the nineteenth century. Documented use of the term dates to the mid seventeenth century.

                          per Oxford Dictionary:
The earliest known use of the phrase rule of thumb is in the mid 1600s. OED's earliest evidence for rule of thumb is from before 1658, in the writing of James Durham, Church of Scotland minister. rule of thumb is formed within English, by compounding.

There are various stories regarding it's supposed historic use as describing the size of an implement used for striking someone. They even include real people. But every investigation into them comes up wanting. As one investigator noted, nobody cared about what was used to beat someone with but rather what was the severity of the resulting injuries.
