The US are the sniveling cowards. Seriously. They are literally so terrified and afraid of the rest of the world that they feel the need to spend trillions on an excessively sized military to defend themselves from nobody. Whereas other countries say, "why do we even need a military? We're not afraid of anyone attacking us." By allies you mean the U.S.? Everyone else was in no condition to do much but to try to patch themselves back together (which we were willing to help with as well).

And keep in mind that the U.S. was against seeking revenge against Germany after WWI. It was the enlightened European countries who pushed that through.

Anyway, even his blame for the Treaty of Versailles being the primary cause of WWll can't be fully blamed on the causes of WWll since France had the Treaty of Frankfurt some 40 years before. In truth, the failure to enforce the Treaty of Versailles was a much bigger cause of WWll since Germany was pretty much allowed to ignore it since the allies didn't want another war. Likewise, Japan and Italy had no such Treaty in place and they both managed to join the axis powers.
