I saw an interesting article discussing that recently. It asked whether universities have a duty to teach stupid and incoherent and disproven ideas as being on par with intelligent and coherent and proven ideas: An 'equal time' for creation and evolution as it were. Because it found that the reason most universities weren't teaching 'conservative' ideas were because the universities simply considered the conservative ideas stupid/disproven/incoherent/wrong, so they taught what modern science supported and what modern academic research had found to be correct. Conservatives, in getting upset over this, are essentially asking for a 'safe space' for their ideas in unis, and are upset that their ideas don't meet normal criteria for correctness or truthfulness and hence are discarded in evidenced-based academic institutions.

I see this playing out among young people on the internet in its own way: In online discussions, the internet-savvy and education younger generation is extremely good at using google to research things and will link to relevant articles. Especially in forums that allow upvoting of helpful comments, the quality of the discussions can be very very high and claims are subjected to rigorous scrutiny and quickly downvoted if found to be in error. This seems to be allowing young people all across the Western world to reach a consensus understanding about politics that is very evidence-focused and leans very liberal/left/socialist.

Boris is in some ways the obvious choice to replace Theresa May. However the new PM's major first task is to negotiate Brexit with the EU and get a good deal for the UK. Since Boris' name is mud with the EU precisely because of Brexit, it seems doubtful that Boris would be made PM because he doesn't have enough standing with the EU to be taken seriously by them in negotiations.

3. A lot of the younger generation are really far left in their political views, both in the UK and the US. If you give them two right-wing parties/policies to choose between they don't vote, but if you give them an actual left-wing option, they will turn out in droves and vote for it.

On Friday, students from Bishop Noll Institute students in Hammond, Indiana, traveled to Andrean High School in nearby Merrillville for a basketball game.

"During the course of that game, a group of Andrean students produced signs and images of presidential candidate Donald Trump and began to chant 'Build that wall,' at the Bishop Noll team and fans, who are heavily Hispanic," the Catholic Dioceses of Gary, which oversees both schools, said in a statement.

Ashley Howard was at the game cheering for her cousin, who plays for Bishop Noll. "When I looked across the gym, the signs that I saw from Andrean were the Trump fathead posters, the ESPN Deportes sign, a sign from 'Dora the Explorer,' and the 'Family Guy' Hispanic maid," Howard told CNN. She posted two photos from the game on her Facebook page. One showed a young man holding up a large Donald Trump face cutout. The second showed a group holding a banner reading "ESPN Deportes."

"Deportes" is Spanish for sports.
The signs, she said were coupled with chants like "Build a wall," "No comprende" and "Speak English."
